Trump’s weird four-word remark after telling World Cup draw he ‘settled eight wars’

Donald Trump has claimed to have settled eight wars, including ones that haven’t even started yet, as he was awarded a peace prize from the FIFA president. Totally normal behaviour all round

Donald Trump bizarrely bragged about “settling eight wars” shortly before the FIFA World Cup draw – where he was given FIFA’s first ever peace prize.

The Orange Manbaby spoke to reporters on the red carpet at the Kennedy Center, where he was accompanied by FIFA President Gianni Infantino. Trump won the newly introduced Peace Prize, an award that recognizes an individual’s actions for peace and unity.

When asked if the prize would conflict with his pledge to strike Venezuela, Trump said: “I mean, I’ve settled eight wars.”

He then went on to brag about his diplomatic ventures, adding: “I’m here to represent our country in a different sense.

“But I can tell you, I did settle eight wars, and we have a ninth coming. I don’t need prizes. I need to save lives, and I’ve saved a lot of lives.”

Infantino announced the Peace Prize last month, saying that the winner would receive the award during the World Cup draw.

He said in a statement at the time: “In an increasingly unsettled and divided world, it is fundamental to recognise the outstanding contribution of those who work hard to end conflicts and bring people together in a spirit of peace.”

Infantino said football “stands for peace” and that the award will “recognise the enormous efforts of those individuals who unite people, bringing hope for future generations.”

The FIFA president, dubbed “sychophantino” by online wags, did not reveal Trump as the recipient at the time, but previously said: “I’m really lucky. I have a great relationship with President Trump, where I consider him a really close friend.”

Trump was given the prize during the World Cup Draw in Washington on Friday, December 5. FIFA said the award would be given to “individuals who have taken exceptional and extraordinary actions for peace” when announced last month.

Accepting the award, Trump said: “This is truly one of the great honours of my life. [There were] so many different wars that we were able to end, in some cases a little bit before they started, just right before they started.”

Speaking about the World Cup next summer, he adds: “You’re going to have an event the likes of which maybe the world has never seen.” Trump previously missed out on the Nobel Peace Prize after openly campaigning for it.
