All you need to know about the FA Cup third round draw
- The FA Cup third round draw takes place on Monday, December 8 as Premier League and Championship clubs join the fray, with many lower-league outfits dreaming of landing a high-profile match-up.
- It provides the potential of giant killings and major upsets, like when League One Bradford secured a famous victory by dumping Jose Mourinho’s Premier League leaders Chelsea out of the competition in 2015.
- And just last year, Arne Slot’s eventual Premier League champions Liverpool would be stunned by Championship side Plymouth Argyle.
- The third round will see 64 teams in action, as the elite clubs from the top two tiers join the 20 victors from the second round. Thanks to a couple of all non-league clashes this weekend, at least two sixth-tier sides will feature in the FA Cup draw.
- Sunday afternoon saw Macclesfield beat Slough Town in one of these non-league showdowns. National League outfit Boreham Wood also pulled off a cupset, beating League Two Newport County 3-0 on Sunday.
- The FA Cup third round draw is set to take place on Monday, December 8, around 6.40pm UK time. Peter Crouch and Joe Cole will conduct the draw before the kick-off between Brackley Town and Burton Albion, the final match of the second round.
- You can catch the third round draw live on TNT Sports 1. It will also be streamed live on the discovery+ app. Fans without a TNT Sports subscription can tune into the draw on the TNT Sports YouTube channel. All third round ties are set to kick off over the weekend starting Saturday, 10 January.
