Huw Edwards sparks outrage through the use of moody headshot photograph to ‘mount TV comeback’
Disgraced former BBC News presenter Huw Edwards, 64, who admitted three counts of making indecent images of children, has also taken his £4.8m family home off the market
Paedophile presenter Huw Edwards has sparked fear and outrage after “announcing” he may be set to mount a TV comeback.
The disgraced ex-BBC news host, 64, has posed for a moody new professionally-taken headshot – and taken his £4.8million family mansion off the market after he was forced to drop the asking price three times. Sex offender Edwards shared the polished snap with what remains of his following on Facebook.
It shows him in a suit jacket, sporting “designer” white stubble and the hint of a smirk. The convicted sex offender’s post prompted an outpouring of suspicion and disgust from his armies of critics online.
One said he looked as if he was trying to “soften the memory” of his sickening crimes with the picture. The critic added: “Is he on the comeback trail? Why else would he suddenly get a professional portrait done?
“It looks like he’s ready to relaunch himself. The whole thing screams image rehabilitation. Surely he can’t think that a well-lit headshot and a scrap of stubble will soften the memory of everything that’s happened.”
Another critic sneered on X: “Where do I send an open letter written by the mother of one of the innocent children whose images were exploited for the twisted pleasure of Huw Edwards?”
And yet another raged: “Dirty ferret had the worst kind of child abuse pics on his phone. B****** should be in prison.”
Others asked why he was “allowed” on social media and said he should be banned from tech and phones.
Edwards was suspended by the BBC in July 2023 after it emerged he had paid a young man £35,000 for sex pictures. He was arrested in secret in November the same year over child abuse images – but was not sacked from his near-£500,000 per year job, and ended up stepping down on medical grounds in April 2024.
Three months later, it was revealed he had been charged with making indecent images. He narrowly escaped being caged by admitting to three counts and was sentenced to six months’ jail suspended for two years.
His flash six-bedroom pad in a leafy part of Dulwich Village, south London, was listed for sale in October 2024. It was initially on the market for £4.75million before the luxury home was reduced to £4.5million in March.
Edwards knocked another £500,000 off the asking price in June. The home that he shared with his estranged wife Vicky Flind and their five children has now been removed altogether from Rightmove.
At one stage, the property was offered under a “discreet listing” after cranks flooded estate agents with queries about its sale.
