Leeds Train Station cordoned off after ‘individual hit by prepare’ as police race to scene

Leeds Train Station was sealed off on Monday evening (December 8) following a distressing incident where an individual was struck by a train, according to reports. Train services between Leeds and Micklefield have been halted as police respond to the unfolding situation.
Current cancellations are expected to last until at least 9.15pm. Firefighters, specialist police officers and ambulance crews are understood to be present at the scene, reports Leeds Live.
Commuters have reportedly said a “man was hit by a train” with others saying a man “fell from height” and was “taken to hospital by police”. A the time of writing, all lines have now reopened.
A spokesperson said: “Train services running through this station are returning to normal but some services will still be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until 10pm.”
Customer advice
Following emergency services dealing with an incident, all services can now run through Leeds station. Trains may still be delayed or amended at short notice however, as services return to normal.
Effect on service:
The following lines of route were being disrupted between Leeds – York / Selby in both directions:
- Leeds – York via Garforth
- Blackpool North – York
- Halifax – Hull
Alternative travel suggestions:
Services between Leeds – York via Harrogate are unaffected by this issue.
Northern tickets will be accepted on CrossCountry & Transpennine Express services via any reasonable route, until further notice. Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.

- 18:15 Hull – Halifax is currently being delayed at Cross Gates.

- Services between Leeds – York via Harrogate are unaffected by this issue.

“Trespassers on railway”
Earlier today, Northern Railway reported that delays may be due to “trespassers” on the tracks at Leeds Station. Posting to X (formerly known as Twitter) at 7:33pm, a spokesperson for Northern Railways wrote: “Due to trespassers on the railway at Leeds, some lines are blocked.
“Train services running through this station will be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until 21:30. Network Rail and BTP officers are due on site shortly.”
