George and Amal Clooney look smitten as they maintain palms on a romantic weekend break within the South of France

George and Amal Clooney looked smitten as they walked hand-in-hand during a romantic weekend getaway in the South of France

The Hollywood actor, 64, and his glamorous lawyer wife, 47, looked loved-up as they enjoyed a stroll while holding hands in the sunshine.

The couple, who own a home just an hour’s drive away, headed to a family-run organic vineyard, Chateau du Canadel, after enjoying a luxury meal at Restaurant La Magdeleine.

George looked in good spirits as he chatted away to Amal while driving his £400,000 Aston Martin Vanquish.

The Ocean’s Eleven star cut a smart figure in a navy jacket which he layered over a coordinated T-shirt and trousers.

He kept comfortable in a pair of taupe suede slip on shoes while Amal wrapped up in a stylish green long coat.

She looked incredible in a white roll neck minidress which she teamed with the winter coat, tights and towering ankle boots.

Amal toted her belongings in a brown handbag and accessorised with dazzling drop earrings and a pair of sunglasses.

The couple looked giddy as they chatted away while holding hands before heading back to their parked car.

Despite being one of the biggest names in the movie industry, George and his family left the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles behind for their enormous manor house near Cotignac in France in July 2021.

It took well over a year for the house to be upgraded to their standards, but they started living there in 2022 and are now very firmly ensconced.

The pair are also regulars at the Jardin Secret restaurant in Cotignac, where they enjoy the cuisine of Benoit Witz, who trained with the legendary chef Alain Ducasse.

And it has been revealed that George has plunged into the local culture by becoming a wine producer.

He is sending grapes from his four-hectare vineyard into a local co-operative, Les Vignerons de Correns, to be made into rosé wine.

Wine expert Laurence Berlemont actually planted the Vermentino variety vines on Clooney’s estate 20 years ago.

She says: ‘I am George Clooney’s farmer. He has already participated in a few blends. He gives us his opinion. He has a good palate. He is someone very humble, a good listener.’

The wines produced are a white Cote Varois and a rosé, called Ferme Saint-Georges.

Recently, George revealed that his kids are having a ‘much better life’ growing up out of the spotlight.

He told Esquire magazine: ‘I was worried about raising our kids in LA, in the culture of Hollywood.

‘I felt like they were never going to get a fair shake at life.’

The Jay Kelly actor pointed out that the culture in France is very different to the US, explaining they ‘don’t give a s*** about fame’.

He added: ‘I don’t want them being compared to somebody else’s famous kids.’

George stays clear of social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook, but is worried about what will happen to his kids when they eventually get their own accounts.

Last month, he told Julia Roberts for 72 Magazine: ‘The risks are so much bigger and the consequences follow you for so much longer.

‘I’m worried about my kids; we keep them off the internet as much as we can.

‘But, you know, some of their homework is done on a computer.’

There’s no doubt George Clooney and his wife Amal Clooney live a very luxe life with an estimated net worth of $550million (£409million) combined.

Yet, the megastar insists he lives a ‘normal’ life – despite the power couple owning multiple homes around the world.

Following the success of his Broadway play Good Night, and Good Luck, the 64-year-old’s next film is Jay Kelly, in which he coincidentally stars as a ‘famous movie actor’.

When asked by the Daily Mail at the premiere during the New York Film Festival whether he craves normalcy like his character, he revealed he indeed does have ‘normalcy’ in his life.

‘I have normalcy. You know, I drive my kids to school every morning,’ he insisted. ‘I have normalcy – except for this!’

He then admitted he does have somewhat of a ‘pampered’ life, which he tries to shield from his and Amal’s eight-year-old twins.

He explained: ‘They didn’t come to the set much. They came a couple of times. I try to keep the kids away from that experience right now.

‘I’m not quite sure what they would think about it. I don’t want them to think we’re too pampered.’

As a result of their love affair with France, George’s house on Lake Como, bought in 2002, seems to have been downgraded to holiday home status.

There were even rumours last year that Clooney had put Como up for sale. He denied them saying: ‘First I’ve heard of it!’

However, word is that the family are now pretty much permanently based in France, and Como will just be a place to go when it gets roasting hot in Provence in August.
