Mo Salah receives bombshell provide that can have Liverpool chiefs sweating

Liverpool star Mo Salah claimed he was ‘thrown under the bus’ by the club following his latest benching, and he’s just been invited to open up even more on his grievances

Mohamed Salah has been handed an offer from Piers Morgan that could make Liverpool officials even more uneasy.

Salah claimed he had been “thrown under a bus” and that he no longer has a relationship with head coach Arne Slot after being left on the bench for a third consecutive match against Leeds on Saturday.

Following his explosive remarks, Liverpool decided to remove him from the squad for Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Inter Milan. There is a genuine chance that Salah may have played his final game for the club, as several Saudi Pro League teams are monitoring his situation ahead of the January transfer window.

With the relationship between player and club already fragile, Salah has received a proposal from broadcaster Morgan, whose infamous interview with Cristiano Ronaldo effectively ended the Portuguese star’s second spell at Manchester United.

Responding to Salah’s cutting remarks, Morgan posted on X: “Wow… maybe time for an interview @MoSalah?”

In November 2022, Ronaldo gave a headline-making interview to Morgan in which he criticised the Glazer family, the club’s facilities and then-manager Erik ten Hag. United subsequently terminated his contract, clearing the way for him to join Al-Nassr, where he continues his career.

Ronaldo’s remarks sparked a divided reaction. Some United supporters praised his blunt honesty, arguing the club needed to face uncomfortable truths. Others condemned the comments as a petulant outburst from a player whose emotional return had failed to impress.

Liverpool, and particularly Slot, will likely be hoping Salah does not accept Morgan’s invitation. Currently, reconciliation seems improbable, though not completely out of reach.

Any further public outbursts from the 33-year-old, particularly directed at someone of Morgan’s stature, would almost certainly end his time at Anfield permanently. The club must also weigh the impact on the rest of the squad.

Goalkeeper Alisson Becker said: “This is not a situation that makes us happy, first and foremost because on a personal level we all love Mo. He is a hugely important player for the team, he is a wonderful human being, he is a spectacular footballer and has been very important for the club.”

He added: “We were a little bit caught by surprise [by Salah’s comments] but we know it is a personal situation, so we are leaving it between him and the club. What we believe does not come into things.

“What we want is for him and the club to reach an agreement in the best interests of him and the club and all of the playing staff. I hope he plays again for the club. That’s a personal situation between Mo and the club.

“We as his team-mates and his friends, we hope the best thing happens for him, but as Liverpool FC players we want the best for the club as well. We want a win-win situation for everyone.”
