Tucker Carlson Says He Bought New Home To Make A Statement ― And It’s A Weird One

Tucker Carlson seemed to attach a lot of significance to a property purchase in Qatar.
The former Fox News host on Sunday defended himself against claims that he’s been backed by Qatari money before declaring he’s adding a place to his real estate portfolio.
“I have been criticized as being a tool of Qatar, and I just want to say, which you already know, which is I have never taken anything from your country and don’t plan to,” Carlson told Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani at the Doha Forum. “I am, however, tomorrow buying a place in Qatar. … In Doha … I like the city, I think it’s beautiful, but also to make the statement that I’m an American and a free man, and I’ll be wherever I want to be, which I think is important.”

“But that does kind of leave us in a place where I have not taken any money from Qatar,” he continued. “I have instead given money to Qatar. I wonder if you feel that that means I’ve bought you and you will now spew my propaganda.”
“Just ask me whatever you want me to do for you,” the prime minister answered, sparking a spasm of Carlson’s maniacal laughter.
Carlson’s property will presumably be safer now that President Donald Trump recently guaranteed the autocracy NATO-like help if it should come under attack. He made the decree months after securing a free $400 million jet from the oil nation.

Carlson, who now has a show on X after being shown the door by the conservative network in 2023, previously purchased multimillion-dollar homes next door to each other in Boca Grande, Florida, and has owned a home in Maine since 2020, according to Realtor.com.
He had two homes in Washington, D.C., but sold them for about a combined $6 million, according to the real estate site.
He was a free man and an American then, too.
Fast-forward to 19:05 for the odd exchange:
