UK well being officers difficulty warning as pandemic-era rule returns
Professor Angela Wallace, executive director of nursing at NHSGGC, told local news outlets that the move has been done to ‘ensure’ that the most vulnerable in society ‘stay protected’
What we know as a pandemic-era rule returns to the UK:
- A much-loathed pandemic-era restriction is back – and a warning has been issued.
- After a rise in flu cases was seen in Scotland, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde has officially made the decision to enforce mask wearing in all hospitals across the city.
- In a stern notice placed on its website, officials said: “An online notice reads: “As is the case throughout the UK, hospitals across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde are currently seeing rising numbers of patients with symptoms of flu.
- “In response to advice from our Infection Prevention and Control Teams, and in line with other Health Boards across Scotland, we are encouraging all visitors to our hospitals, and all clinical staff, to wear Fluid Resistant Surgical Masks – similar to those used during the COVID pandemic – at all times while they are on our premises.”
- And backing the call, Professor Angela Wallace, executive director of nursing at NHSGGC, told local news outlets that the move has been done to “ensure” that the most vulnerable in society “stay protected”
- Officials have also asked that anyone with “mild to moderate” flu-like symptoms avoid attending emergency departments, and do not visit friends and family in hospital
