Sharon Osbourne reveals Ozzy was warned by docs he might die on stage at his farewell live performance: ‘He knew his physique was failing him however he simply needed to thank his followers’

Ozzy Osbourne was warned by doctors he wouldn’t survive his farewell concert in Birmingham’s Villa Park.

The rocker decided to go against medical advice, even though ‘he knew his body was failing him’ to see his fans one last time before his death, his widow Sharon has revealed.

Black Sabbath legend Ozzy died of heart failure at his Buckinghamshire home on July 22, just three weeks after performing the farewell gig with his bandmates in his hometown.

In a new upcoming interview with Piers Morgan on Uncensored, Sharon, 73, fought back tears as she recalled Ozzy’s final days and what it took for him to get up on stage in front of his thousands of fans, while he was in agonising pain.

The former X Factor judge said Ozzy was well aware he didn’t have long left because he’d been so ‘terribly, terribly ill for a year’.

The Sun reports Sharon said: ‘When we came to England and we were meeting with new doctors here, a new medical team for him, the main doctor said to him, “If you do this show, that’s it. You’re not going to get through it”.

‘But we just sat there, and he said, I’m doing it. I want to do it, and I’m doing it. He knew his body was failing him. He was in so much pain, so much pain.’

Sharon went on to discuss how Ozzy battled with pneumonia and sepsis as well as a struggling with a back injury after a fall and aggravated from his 2003 quad bike crash

The rocker also battled Parkinson’s Disease, which he was diagnosed with in 2003, but didn’t announce publicly until 2020.

Sharon told Piers: ‘He had pneumonia three times this year. He’d had sepsis.

‘That’s what really, really destroyed him.

‘He was on these shots of antibiotics. It used to take 20 minutes for the shot to go in, and he had that twice a day, and it kills everything in you, the Good, the Bad, everything, so much antibiotics, and he just couldn’t get over that. He just couldn’t.’

Speaking of why Ozzy decided to push through and perform, Sharon said he was determined to thank everyone as, deep down, he knew his life was coming to an end.

She added: ‘He didn’t want to die on stage, he didn’t. But he did it his way’.

Sharon said Ozzy was ‘so happy’ after his concert and completely blown away by the support as he ‘never knew so many people’ liked him.

On what would have been his 77th birthday Sharon took to Instagram with a tribute and shared a series of loved-up and never-before-seen images with him.

She penned alongside the slideshow: ‘My darling husband, I celebrate the day you were born. I will never let go of your hand until I see you on the other side.’

Sharon also shared a video of a floral tribute to Ozzy in Birmingham on Black Sabbath Bridge that read ‘Happy Birthday Ozzy.’ The clip was poignantly set to his hit See You On The Other Side.

The floral display featured a sign from four of his six children that read: ‘We love you daddy, love Louis, Aimee, Kelly and Jack.’

Meanwhile Kelly wrote in her separate tribute: ‘Happy birthday I miss you daddy! I love you more than life itself!’, along with a selection of snaps with him when she was a child.

In another Instagram post she shared snaps at the floral display area in Birmingham and said: ‘Happy birthday daddy you most certainly did not die an ordinary man! Life without you is hard but not a day goes by that I don’t dedicate my life to loving you and your legacy!
