Single blokes who personal cats like Dr Evil are a ‘huge activate for the women’

A third of male cat owners claimed that their furry friend had actually boosted their love life, while singletons are drawn to fellas who include their pet in dating profiles

Male cat owners like Dr Evil are increasingly becoming a hit with the ladies, a new study suggests. Over a third of male cat owners – 36% – said having a feline companion had boosted their love life.

And three in 10 Brits said they were more likely to date a bloke who lives with a moggy. While two in five are drawn to fellas who include their mouser in online dating profile pictures.

Younger singletons are even more turned on by “cat dads”, the trendy term for male mog owners. More than two in five Gen Z youngsters (41%) and about the same number of Millennials (40%) find men with cats more attractive.

Overall, a third of Brits believe cat-owning men will make more caring partners because they show empathy. And nearly half of those polled (45%) view cat ownership as a “positive personality trait”.

But the study warns that ladies hungry for a hunk with a puss could end up in a cat fight for the man’s attentions.

Over half of cat dads – some 53% – prefer spending time with their four-legged friend than humans. And four in 10 would choose a night at home with their cat over a social outing such as a date.

Comedy baddie Dr Evil, played by Mike Myers in the Austin Powers movies, famously fawns over hairless Sphynx cat, Mr. Bigglesworth. The character is a parody of James Bond villain Blofeld, who was always seen stroking his Persian cat.

It is believed 007 creator Sir Ian Fleming depicted the criminal mastermind with a feline to make him seem more effeminate and therefore more evil.

But Dr Scott McGrane, senior research manager at Whiskas, Dreamies and Sheba cat food maker Mars, which surveyed 2,000 Brits, said: “It’s clear that the human-animal bond is deepening, evolving into relationships defined by emotional support, connection and care. Cat dads are a wonderful example of this shift.

“As a proud cat dad myself, I’m delighted to see these relationships celebrated.”
