Hilarious second Erling Haaland rips into ‘unfastened cannon’ Jamie Carragher after his criticism of Mohamed Salah

Erling Haaland hilariously mocked Jamie Carragher after Manchester City‘s 2-1 win over Real Madrid on Wednesday, joking the Liverpool legend is now a ‘loose cannon’ after his recent dressing-down of Mohamed Salah.

Carragher, 47, delivered an impassioned eight-minute rant in criticism of Salah on Monday after the Egyptian superstar accused Liverpool of throwing him ‘under the bus’ and claimed he has no relationship with under pressure manager Arne Slot.

Salah, reeling after being named on the bench for a third successive game, publicly expressed his frustration to reporters in the aftermath of Liverpool’s 3-3 draw against Leeds at Elland Road.

Labelling Salah a ‘disgrace’, Carragher accused the £400,000-a-week star of attempting to cause ‘maximum damage’ to the club by airing his dirty.

Haaland, in high spirits after his penalty helped guide City to a crucial win over the Spanish giants in the Champions League, wasted no time before humourously ripping into Carragher during post-match interview with CBS Sports.

‘Oof, I’m getting nervous now when I see Jamie Carragher in the studio,’ Haaland joked immediately.

Carragher and the rest of the CBS panel, which included Thierry Henry, Micah Richards presenter Kate Abdo, roared with laughter before the Liverpool legend assured Haaland that he ‘doesn’t have to be nervous’.

The Norwegian showed no nerves from the penalty spot when he calmly fired City into the lead just before half-time, eight minutes after Nico O’Reilly cancelled out Rodrygo’s opener for the hosts.

Haaland won the penalty himself after being hauled to the ground by Real Madrid centre-back Antonio Rudiger, with whom he had a fierce head-to-head battle throughout the pulsating clash at the Bernabeu.

After Haaland’s initial jibe, Richards asked: ‘Erling, who do you prefer? Rudiger or Carragher?’

‘I think I’d have to say Rudiger because Carragher is a bit of a loose cannon,’ the Norwegian said, sparking another eruption of laughter.

Carragher’s lengthy rant on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football has divided opinion, with some fans believing his criticism went too far and others appreciating his raw honesty.

‘I thought it was a disgrace what he did after the game,’ Carragher said in reference to Salah after Manchester United’s 4-1 hammering of Wolves.

‘Some people have painted it as an emotional outburst, I do not think it was.

‘I think whenever Mo Salah stops in a mixed zone, which he’s done four times in eight years at Liverpool, it is choreographed by him and his agent to cause maximum damage and to strengthen his own position.

‘He did that 12 months ago and I called him out on this show about it. He played on the heartstrings of the Liverpool supporters.

‘Liverpool were top of the league and he’d scored the wining goal at Southampton. That was the time to come out and put pressure on the Liverpool ownership. For the rest of the season you have banners in the crowd saying “Give Mo his dough”.

‘He’s chosen this weekend to do this now and he’s waited for a bad result, they’ve conceded a last minute goal. The Liverpool supporters, the manager, the whole club feels like it is in the gutter at the moment, and he’s chosen that time to go for the manager and maybe try and get him sacked.

‘That’s the way I felt about it. The line that stands out for me is “thrown under the bus”. He’s tried to throw the club under the bus twice in the last 12 months with the situations just mentioned.

‘Going after the owners initially, and these are owners who have been paying him hundreds of thousands of pounds for six years, he’s complained a year ago because they hadn’t given him a new contract at the age of 32. The club are more than entitled to do that.

‘With the manager right now, Salah should be doing as much as he can now to try and help the club get out of the worst run of results they’ve had since the 1950s, and he hasn’t done that.’
