Bestselling writer Joanna Trollope dies aged 82 as tributes paid to ‘inspirational’ author
Bestselling author Joanna Trollope, known as the “queen of the Aga saga”, has died at the age of 82.
Her daughters confirmed the news in a statement hailing their mother as “inspirational”. The author sadly passed away peacefully in her home in Oxfordshire yesterday (December 11).
Trollope became known for her romance novels, which including The Rector’s Wife and Marrying the Mistress.
Her daughters Louise and Antonia said: “Our beloved and inspirational mother Joanna Trollope has died peacefully at her Oxfordshire home, on December 11 aged 82.”
Trollope’s literary agent James Gill said in a statement: “It is with great sadness that we learn of the passing of Joanna Trollope, one of our most cherished, acclaimed and widely enjoyed novelists.

“Joanna will be mourned by her children, grandchildren, family, her countless friends and – of course – her readers.”
Trollope was one of the best known novelists in the UK with over 22 published and some adapted to the TV programs.
Her 2013’s Sense & Sensibility was the lead title in HarperCollins’s Austen Project.
Trollope also received an OBE in 1996, not for her novels but for services to charity. She was made a CBE in 2019 for services to literature.
