Four youngsters stabbed with one preventing for his or her life as man enters mum’s Germany house

An eight-year-old child has been left critically injured and three others seriously hurt in a knife attack, sparking a massive police manhunt.
The young child, who was reportedly the most severely wounded in the German attack, suffered “15 to 20 cuts and stab wounds all over the body and head”. The risk of life-threatening injuries cannot be ruled out, wa.de reports.
Police have released images of a 20-year-old man they wish to question in relation to the attack, during which the children’s mother was also injured. A spokesperson for the Dortmund public prosecutor’s office warned against approaching the man directly, stating: “Anyone who sees him should immediately call the police on 110. It cannot be ruled out that he is armed.”
The assault allegedly took place in a flat on Zentrumstraße in Bergkamen-Weddinghofen. Police report that the 26-year-old female resident and her four children, aged between three and eight, were seriously injured by stabbings and slashes.
“The suspect, whose name is known to the police, fled the scene in an unknown direction,” the statement reads, reports the Mirror.
He is described as being 1.85 meters tall, slim, dressed in dark clothing, with a white hat, glasses and a “three-day beard”.
Meanwhile, a mum has been brutally stabbed in the baby changing room of the renowned Macy’s store in New York City, with her 10-month-old daughter witnessing the horrifying incident.
The alleged attacker, a woman who prosecutors claim was “looking for someone to kill” mere hours after being discharged from a Manhattan psychiatric ward, has been arrested.
The victim, a tourist visiting from California, was attending to her child’s nappy around 3pm on Thursday when the deranged woman reportedly stormed into the cubicle on the seventh floor and repeatedly stabbed her. During the horrific assault, the baby tumbled from the changing table onto the floor, according to prosecutors.
Officials report that the 38-year-old mother suffered stab wounds to her back and slashes to her arm, and was rushed to hospital in a stable condition. Thankfully, the baby was unscathed in the knife attack and the mother has since been released from hospital.
Kerri Aherne, a 43-year-old from Massachusetts, was apprehended by the baby’s father and store security before being arrested.
Earlier that day, Aherne had been discharged from Manhattan Psychiatric Center where she had spent a year.
“She had purchased a knife at Macy’s and looked for someone to kill because voices in her head told her that she had to kill someone or else she would be killed,” stated Paul Barker, the Manhattan Assistant District Attorney, during Friday’s court proceedings.
Aherne now faces charges of attempted murder, endangering the welfare of a child, two counts of assault, and criminal possession of a weapon.
She is alleged to have purchased the knife at Macy’s just before the attack and is being held without bail.
The victim and her partner, the father of the baby, who have not been publicly named, are both employees of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
