Nick Woltemade scores superb header in Sunderland vs Newcastle as followers shocked

Nick Woltemade broke the deadlock between Newcastle and Sunderland with a dramatic own goal.
The German striker has been a revelation for the Magpies since making his eyebrow-raising £69million move from Stuttgart in the summer.
However, the Geordie joy in their new talisman vanished after he headed into the back of his own net against their biggest rivals just one minute into the second half.
A cross from the right by Nordi Mukiele was attacked by Woltemade at the near post. But in attempting to clear the ball, the striker’s salmon-esque effort turned the ball onto the underside of his own crossbar, crashing past a helpless Aaron Ramsdale and into the net.
The Sunderland support behind the goal was sent into raptures and Woltemade immediately put his hands behind his head in disbelief.
Fans took to social media to poke fun at the striker, with one user joking: “Cracking header that. Fair play to Woltemade, his striker instincts just can’t be dulled.”
A second said: “New signing, wrong net. Derby day magic.” Another quipped: “Woltemade is a born striker. He doesn’t care whose goal it is, he just wants to score.”
Both sides’ attack had failed to cause problems for either defence in a cagey yet brutal first-half between the two North East foes. But Woltemade’s own goal meant Eddie Howe had to switch up his counter-attacking setup and go on the front foot.
The goal forced the game to open up, with Sunderland having their first shot on target in the entire game in the 72nd minute when Wilson Isidor tested Ramsdale just two minutes after coming on.
Howe’s frustration on the sideline was obvious when he withdrew Anthony Gordon, Anthony Elanga and Sandro Tonali before the hour mark. Woltemade was then hooked for Yoane Wissa in the 75th minute
