Man Utd participant scores vs Bournemouth: 8/10 shines however three 5/10s price win
Manchester United were held to a 4-4 draw by Bournemouth at Old Trafford, with the Red Devils missing a chance to go fifth in the Premier League
Manchester United missed another opportunity to climb to fifth in the Premier League as they lost the lead three times in a chaotic eight-goal draw with Bournemouth at Old Trafford.
United showed more attacking prowess and led at half-time thanks to goals from Amad and Casemiro, with Antoine Semenyo’s effort between them.
However, their defence was shambolic. Semenyo’s goal was handed to him on a plate, while Evanilson and Marcus Tavernier put the Cherries in front.
A quick-fire double from Bruno Fernandes and Matheus Cunha put United back in the lead, only for Junior Kroupi to salvage a point for the visitors.
Here, the Daily Star Sport rates the United players.
Senne Lammens: Made a decent save in the first half but was caught flat-footed by Evanilson and should have stopped Tavernier’s free-kick. Saved United a point late on with two good added-time saves. 7.
Leny Yoro: Wasn’t directly involved in some of the defensive blunders but doesn’t always instil confidence in his teammates. 6.
Ayden Heaven: Slow to react and shut down Semenyo for the first goal and then caught out of position for Evanilson’s second. 5.
Luke Shaw: Was easily dispossessed by Kluivert for the first goal when he needed to show more strength. Shifted back to left-back in a four-man defence midway through the second half. 5.
Diogo Dalot: Delivered an excellent cross for the first goal and started the game well. Switched from left-back to right-back midway through the second half. 7.
Casemiro: Found himself in the right spot from a corner again, but Djordje Petrovic should have saved it. His ball control was not always convincing and a reckless tackle resulted in a free-kick for the third goal. 6.
Bruno Fernandes: Lost possession leading to a break that resulted in the free-kick for Bournemouth’s third goal. However, his superb free-kick equalised for United and he also managed an assist. 7.
Amad: Botched an early pass to Bryan Mbeumo but redeemed himself with a goal and some sharp attacks. He wasn’t the only one who struggled a bit more after half-time. 7.
Bryan Mbeumo: Not at his best. Missed a difficult volley and shot too close to Petrovic for another first-half chance. 6.
Mason Mount: Outstanding in the first half with his passing and pressing really standing out. He was at the heart of much of the good play, but his influence faded after the interval. 7.
Matheus Cunha: Showcased his quality as a false nine in the first half. Two brilliant passes to free Amad and a lovely cross for Mbeumo. His goal was well-deserved. 8.
Substitutes:
Kobbie Mainoo: Given half an hour but was relatively quiet in a chaotic match. 6.
Lisandro Martinez: Made one solid tackle. 6.
Benjamin Sesko: Played well for Cunha’s goal. 7.
Joshua Zirkzee: No time to make an impact. N/A
Patrick Dorgu: No time to make an impact. N/A
