Gunfire erupted at JFK Airport in the early hours of Tuesday morning after an off-duty customs officer shot at a driver in front of terrified travelers.
Shots were fired near the New York City airport’s terminal 8 around 4:48am.
One vehicle was hit by gunfire and no one was injured, reports ABC7.
Port Authority police said they are investigating the alleged road rage incident, which was triggered by two vehicles getting into a traffic accident.
The response from cops to the accident led a law enforcement officer to fire their weapon.
It is unclear why the officer discharged their weapon, and the incident is under investigation by the Port Authority.
The incident led to heavy traffic on the Van Wyck highway, and drivers were diverted onto just one lane heading into the major airport.
