I received tens of millions on the lottery TWICE and am certain I’ll bag a 3rd jackpot – however this is why I will not quit my job as a supply driver

A couple who won the National Lottery twice and bagged two million pounds have revealed they’re certain they will win the jackpot a third time.

Richard Davies and his wife Faye joined This Morning hosts Dermot O’Leary and Christine Lampard on Tuesday morning, to open up on their incredible double win.

The couple defied the odds, which stand at more than 24 trillion to one, for the first time seven years ago before bagging a second jackpot in November.

They bought a lucky dip ticket that went on to match five main numbers and the bonus ball during the draw on November 26, marking their second £1million win.

It hasn’t stopped Richard, 49, a courier driver, and Faye, 43, a mental health practitioner, from leaving their jobs – instead spending the money buying the home their children grew up in to keep their family grounded.

Despite the wins, they are still playing the lottery and are convinced they will get lucky again – with host Christine, 46, joking that luck ‘comes in threes’.

Richard recalled of their first win in 2018: ‘I was a hairdresser, I had my own shop and I was working all the time there,’ as Faye added: ‘I was a mental health nurse and at the time I was working nights, we were working just every hour we could.’

Richard continued: ‘I’ve been playing from about my 20s onwards – and [in 2018], I was working, I checked my numbers and there was nothing there, so I thought I’d just take it to the shop in between doing a client.

‘It was really busy in there, the lady behind the counter said “pass me your ticket and we’ll have a look at it”, and the machine made a noise and she said, “I can’t pay this to you”.

‘The lady from the post office said, “I can pay up to £50,000” and she said, “No, it’s not enough”, and I was thinking, what’s going on?

‘I took the ticket back and had a little look online myself and they said I’d won a million pounds – I rang Faye, who was sleeping, and said we’d won.

‘She said, “Do you know for sure?” and I said I hadn’t rung anyone yet, so I rang the number and whilst we were going through the information, the timing went off on my client’s hair colour so we had to end the call before finishing it off.’

Faye added: ‘The car then broke down on the way to collect the money!’

Richard joked: ‘We were pretty excited to get it – we both carried on working.’

For the couple, it was important to remain ‘grounded’, and Faye explained: ‘We bought the house we were living in already because it was the house the kids had grown up in.

‘I was able to leave my job and be there for my son, who was going through quite a tough time, and then go back to university and retrain as a counsellor.

‘Now, the work that I offer feels more wholesome and I can work around the family, and be more in control of my schedule.’

The couple then played the lottery again earlier this year, this time winning a lucky dip on their ticket, which went on to bag three more lucky dips before winning another £1million.

Richard said: ‘It was 6:30am in the morning, I checked my phone and I woke up Faye and I said, “Are we really? Is it really there?”… We’d won.’

Richard confirmed that he still works as a delivery driver, with his ‘work ethic’ still strong after the two big wins, making them millionaires twice.

Nonetheless, the couple are certain they will bag even more money from the lotto, with Richard adding: ‘We’ve always thought we’d win it again.’

Faye said: ‘It’s just believing, and I think [Richard] is the lucky charm to be honest – if you go to the arcades, he will always win!’

‘Everyone touch him on the way out!’ Dermot joked.

It comes after a grieving son revealed how his late father helped him scoop a life-changing win on the lottery.

Darren McGuire, 46, from Bolton, discovered his incredible £1million win just before heading off on a family holiday to Cornwall, where the rest of the week was ‘basically just a blur’.

He spoke of how he misses his father so much that he always selects numbers relating to him every time he enters the lottery draws, as a token of good luck.

The meaningful digits paid off when he selected the winning numbers based on his father’s birthday and date of death.

The gas engineer said: ‘[Dad’s] date of birth (22.03.48) and the date of his passing (21.09.11) made us millionaires – thank you Dad.’

Darren also came to see a ‘mad’ coincidence on the morning of his new fortune as a sign sent from his father, when two rose bushes in their garden had suddenly bloomed.

He said: ‘The very morning of the draw, two rose bushes in our garden that have done absolutely nothing for over four years suddenly bloomed to produce a perfect red rose.

‘To me, it was a sign from Dad that this was the day – and it certainly was. It’s mad.’

Darren said he would use his new riches to work better hours, as he often works seven days a week.

He and his partner Laura Waites, who have been together for nearly 20 years, also wish to finally tie the knot.

The 46-year-old revealed: ‘We were going to get married years ago, then Laura fell pregnant and we moved house.

‘I also regularly work seven days a week as a gas engineer for a housing association in Bolton – a job I love – so with all that we never got around to tying the knot.

‘However, with this win under our belts we’re hoping to get married in real style sometime soon.’

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1 and ITVX.
