LA District Attorney weighs homicide cost over Rob and Michele Reiner’s deaths as son set to seem in courtroom: Latest
The Los Angeles District Attorney is set to consider charges against Nick Reiner in the deaths of his parents, 78-year-old Rob Reiner and 70-year-old Michele Reiner.
The Hollywood couple was reportedly found fatally stabbed in their Los Angeles home on Sunday. The couple’s son, 32, has since been arrested on suspicion of murder and is “responsible” for his parents’ deaths, LAPD detectives alleged.
Police said they would present their case against Reiner to the district attorney’s office on Tuesday. From there, prosecutors will decide whether to charge him. Reiner could also appear in court on Tuesday morning, public records show.
Reiner and his father were seen arguing at a Christmas party hosted by Conan O’Brien on Saturday evening, according to reports. It has since emerged that he fled to a Santa Monica hotel on Sunday evening, where he was ultimately apprehended and where staff reportedly found blood stains.
While tributes poured in for the slain couple, President Donald Trump blamed Reiner’s death on what he called “TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME” in a post on Truth Social, sparking an angry backlash.
Late-night TV host Jimmy Kimmel, a regular critic of Trump, called his remarks “loathsome” and “hateful and vile” while his guest, Michelle Obama, revealed she and her husband Barack Obama had been expecting to have dinner with the Reiners on Sunday evening.
