Pub bans World Cup as a consequence of ‘awful renditions of Vindaloo’ and followers throwing beer

A pub near is banning England fans during the World Cup next summer due to their awful renditions of 1998 tune Vindaloo and their reputation for throwing pints to celebrate goals

A pub is refusing to screen next year’s football World Cup next summer due to drinkers “awful renditions of Vindaloo” and to prevent customers getting “drenched with beer” when England score.

The Thompsons Bell is going to lay on karaoke or quizzes instead after promising to make it a footie free zone. They’ll also put on bottomless brunches and live music. The decision is aimed at female drinkers and anyone who doesn’t like the sport.

And bosses at the boozer in Walmer, near Dover, Kent, have asked punters to come up with other ideas for alternative entertainment during the tournament, which will be held in June and July.

A pub spokesperson said: “Now, this is way ahead. but I’m going to need to get things booked in so don’t judge me! As you’re probably all aware, next summer sees the return of the World Cup.

“Even as a football fan hearing those words sends my blood colder than a Siberian winter. All you want to do is go for drinks with the girls, enjoy good food and embrace the sunshine.

“But all you get is over the top noise, drenched with beer everytime there’s a goal and too many awful renditions of Vindaloo. Don’t worry though girls, I’ve got you covered. We’re not showing it.”

They went on to say they won’t be showing the World Cup at the pub and explained they are focusing on a more “relaxed atmosphere”.

Following this announcement, the spokesperson continued: “What events would you like us to do on the nights there are England games? “Live music? Karaoke? Quizzes? Bottomless Brunch?

“We want to hear from you! And it’s not just the girls, anyone who has no interest in the World Cup, we’re your place.”

The pub has previously shown football matches, such as the UEFA Super Cup between Tottenham and PSG in August. It also broadcast the Community Shield where Man City played Crystal Palace three days earlier.

The plan to now not show the World Cup has got a mixed reactions from locals. Lis Cornwall said: “Bottomless brunch would be awesome.” Katie Gardner suggested: “Karaoke.”

But Polly Wooding said:”I’d love this. But the reality is, I’ll be at home with the kids while Ross is out watching the matches. Great idea though.”

The Three Lions qualified for the World Cup with a perfect record, winning all eight games without conceding a goal.

Thomas Tuchel’s side face a tough group at the tournament in the USA, Canada and Mexico and will play Croatia, Ghana and Panama.
