Rob Reiner’s son Nick hires hotshot lawyer Alan Jackson to signify him after homicide arrest
Rob Reiner‘s embattled son Nick has hired a top celebrity lawyer to represent him after he was arrested in connection with the murder of his mother and father.
Nick Reiner has retained attorney Alan Jackson, whose former clients include Kevin Spacey and Harvey Weinstein.
Jackson also made headlines for representing Karen Read in her Massachusetts murder trial over the death of her Boston cop boyfriend, as well as Malibu rich kid Fraser Bohm, 23, who is accused of killing four sorority sisters in a high-speed crash.
As of Tuesday afternoon, no charges have been filed against Reiner.
He was set to appear at the Superior Court of Los Angeles County today but was not medically cleared, according to Jackson.
Jackson told reporters outside the courthouse that he did not know what the medical issue was, but he said Reiner will not appear before Wednesday.
Reiner, 32, was arrested and booked for the murder of his father, Hollywood legend Reiner, and his mother Michele, who were found dead with their throats split at their home on Sunday.
He remains in custody at Men’s Central Jail in Los Angeles. Jackson, after speaking to reporters outside the courthouse, was seen at the Reiner family home.

Nick was arrested several hours after his parents were found dead in their home in the upscale Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles on Sunday.
The couple were found in bed with their throats cut and may have been asleep when they were murdered, a source close to the investigation claimed to the Daily Mail.
The gruesome detail could help establish a timeline of the killings. Investigators have not yet offered any potential motive for the murders.
Prosecutors are soon set to decide whether and how to charge the 32-year-old, whose court appearance Tuesday morning was canceled.
‘He is not medically cleared to be transported to the court,’ Jackson said, adding that it was ‘just a procedural issue’.
His attorney has made a career of representing high-profile clients, including CEOs, celebrities, NBA players and foreign royals.
Among Jackson’s most famous clients was Weinstein, whom he represented during his sexual assault trial in Los Angeles. A jury convicted the former film producer in 2022.
He represented Spacey when he was accused of sexually assaulting an 18-year-old man in Massachusetts.
Jackson, known for his assertive courtroom style, challenged the claims from the accuser and prosecution. The charges against Spacey were ultimately dropped.

Jackson most recently represented Karen Read, who this year was acquitted of murdering her boyfriend in Massachusetts after a mistrial and hung jury.
He was a central figure in the HBO documentary about the Read case.
Before becoming a powerhouse defense attorney, Jackson worked in the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
He was the lead prosecutor in the murder case against music producer Phil Spector, who was convicted in 2009, and in 2006 prosecuted the killer of race car driver Mickey Thompson.
Jackson was named one of California’s Top 100 Lawyers and has earned a reputation for winning the ‘unwinnable’ cases, according to his biography on the Werksman Jackson & Quinn LLP website.
He has tried more than 85 cases to jury verdict, has a 96 percent success rate, and is one of the ‘most sought-after criminal trial lawyers’ in the US, his firm boasted.
The claim is echoed by experts, including legal analyst Lou Shapiro, who told the Daily Mail on Tuesday: ‘Alan Jackson has a great reputation in the legal community for being fearless, relentless and efficient.
‘It showed in his advocacy for Karen Read where he obtained an acquittal in her retrial. This case may call for a different approach, such as not guilty by reason of insanity. No matter what, he will be ready for it.’
Reiner, 78, and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, 70 (pictured together in 2023), were found stabbed to death in their Los Angeles home on Sunday
Reiner was the Emmy-winning star of the sitcom All in the Family who went on to direct films including When Harry Met Sally and The Princess Bride. He was an outspoken liberal activist for decades.
Michele was a photographer, movie producer and advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. They had been married for 36 years.
Three months ago, Nick was photographed with his parents and siblings at the premiere of his father’s film Spinal Tap 2: The End Continues.
He had spoken publicly of his struggles with addiction, cycling in and out of treatment facilities with bouts of homelessness in between through his teen years.
The father and son explored – and seemed to improve – their relationship through the making of the 2016 film, Being Charlie.
Nick co-wrote, and his father directed, the film about the struggles of an addicted son and a famous father. It was not autobiographical but included several elements of their lives.
‘It forced us to understand ourselves better than we had,’ Reiner told the AP in 2016. ‘I told Nick while we were making it, I said, “You know it doesn’t matter, whatever happens to this thing, we won already”.’
