Shane Warne’s youngsters hope mom Simone finds her ‘fortunately ever after’ with Coldplay’s Chris Martin: ‘Her eyes mild up when she’s round him’

It seems that Brooke and Jackson Warne could be playing matchmaker for their mother Simone Callahan – and they have a very famous suitor in their sights.

New Idea reports the children of cricket icon Shane Warne would ‘love’ to see their mother spark up a relationship with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.

The claims come after Simone, 55, Jackson, 26, and Brooke, 28, recently sat front and centre at Coldplay’s London concerts.

Simone took to Instagram to share a series of photos of herself enjoying the concerts, including one of her, Brooke, Jackson, and Jackson’s girlfriend Kiah Broadsmith, 24, backstage at Wembley Stadium with the Coldplay frontman. 

Chris and Shane were close friends for two decades prior to the spin king’s tragic death in 2022, and a source told the publication that he had remained a supportive figure in the family’s lives.    

‘Chris has been looking out for them,’ they said.

‘Whenever there’s an opportunity to see them or to have them at his shows, he makes it happen.’

It was also claimed that Brooke and Jackson, as well as youngest sibling Summer, 24, have joked about setting Simone up with the singer, following his split with actress Dakota Johnson in June. 

‘They’ve seen how Simone lights up when she’s around Chris so they’d love to see her finally happy again with a good bloke like him,’ the source said.  

‘The kids also know their dad Shane would approve. He always wanted Simone to find the happiness she deserved.’

Shane and Simone first split in 2005 before briefly reconciling in 2009.

The reunion proved short-lived, however, with the couple parting ways again in 2010.

Speaking to Men’s Health magazine in 2021, Shane gave a rare insight into his friendship with the Coldplay frontman.

‘When I catch up with Chris Martin, who’s one of my best friends, we do something really simple. When I go down to his place in LA, we go for a walk up the hill,’ he said.

‘They’ve seen how Simone lights up when she’s around Chris so they’d love to see her finally happy again with a good bloke like him,’ the source said

Shane and Simone first split in 2005 before briefly reconciling in 2009. The reunion proved short-lived, however, with the couple parting ways again in 2010.

‘He’ll go, “Right, my five first”, and he’ll say the five things that are on his mind, whether that’s a block in music writing, whether it’s his children, whatever.’

Shane added that lack of judgment was one of the key factors in their long-standing friendship. 

‘You talk about normal things like everyone else does. The thing is about friendship – real friends never judge,’ he explained.

‘I don’t judge my friends and they don’t judge me. But they know I’m always there for them, and I know they’re there for me. And even if you haven’t spoken for a year, when you do catch up it’s like you saw them yesterday.’

Chris also performed a moving rendition of Coldplay’s Yellow at Shane’s funeral.

During their recent Australian tour, Coldplay again paid tribute to Shane during their first show at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium last month.

During the sold-out gig, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin dedicated the band’s hit tune Sparks to the late cricketer.

Brooke later commemorated the moment with a snap shared to her Instagram Stories that showed her posing with her brother Jackson, Kiah and Simone.

‘What a night,’ Brooke wrote in the caption.

‘Thank you for all the kind messages from Chris’ amazing tribute so special.’

The Australian cricket icon died in March 2022, aged 52, from a suspected heart attack while holidaying in Thailand.
