Glam influencer dies after being thrown from Tenth-floor balcony by husband
Maria Katiane Gomes da Silva, 25, is believed to have been killed by her 40-year-old husband, Alex Leandro Bispo dos Santos, at their apartment in São Paulo, Brazil
A lifestyle blogger has died after allegedly being thrown from a 10th-floor balcony by her husband.
Maria Katiane Gomes da Silva’s body was found by emergency services being cradled by her partner Alex Leandro Bispo dos Santos, 40, who claimed she had taken her own life, according to reports.
He later attended her funeral and was seen weeping in front of her coffin. But police believe Maria, 25, was killed her husband at their home in São Paulo, Brazil, following a heated argument.
She fell from the apartment on 29 November. Nine days later, Alex was arrested on suspicion of femicide.
Police say CCTV footage contradicted his initial account and instead showed a disturbing series of physical attacks in the minutes leading up to Maria’s death.
According to investigators, the footage shows the suspect striking Maria in the car park after they arrived at their apartment block.
The violence allegedly continued inside the lift, where Alex appeared to grab her by the neck.
He is then seen yanking Maria out of the elevator as she desperately clung to the doors in resistance – before being overpowered.
Around a minute later, the suspect returned to the lift alone and sat on the floor with his hands on his head, apparently in despair.
Moments later, Maria fell from the 10th floor.
Alex claimed she had taken her own life following a marital dispute, but officers became suspicious after reviewing the CCTV footage and speaking to neighbours.
He now faces charges of femicide as the investigation continues.
Originally from Ceará State, Maria had moved to São Paulo in search of new opportunities.
She built a following online, creating makeup, travel and wellness content.
Maria leaves behind a daughter from a previous relationship.
