Kate’s ‘magic’ earrings VS Eugenie’s sweet canes! Royals accessorise very in another way at palace Christmas lunch – with one pair costing greater than £6,000
The Princess of Wales and Princess Eugenie both channelled very different looks with their accessories, as they attended King Charles‘s Christmas lunch yesterday.
While Kate, 43, was typically sophisticated in Van Cleef & Arpels Magic Alhambra drop earrings – her husband Prince William‘s cousin, 35, opted for a more playful look with dangling candy canes.
It was a heartwarming contrast for the annual family event, which was also attended by Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, among other members of the firm.
William’s wife paired her opulent £6,300 earrings, made with 18k yellow gold and mother-of-pearl, with a recycled red Alessandra Rich midi dress.
She had her hair pulled back, secured with a Miu Miu velvet bow clip, putting the designer jewellery on full display.
Kate has worn the stunning earrings on five occasions since 2020, including to a carol service and Coronation Concert in 2023.
At previous events, the Princess also wore the earrings with the matching Van Cleef & Arpels Magic Alhambra necklace, featuring six motifs; however, she opted not to wear the co-ord to Christmas Lunch.
Unsurprisingly, the coveted luxury brand comes with a royal-level price tag. These earrings retail for a staggering £6,300; however, there are plenty of affordable alternatives for those who want to copy the fashionable princess’s style.

Her Alessandra Rich dress also seems to be one of Kate’s Christmas favourites.
She wore the AW19 designer frock in 2019 when appearing on A Berry Royal Christmas Party TV show with celebrity baker Mary Berry.
Princess Eugenie and Beatrice were also seen arriving, with the younger sister opting for a novelty Christmas-themed accessory.
The sisters were all smiles as they drove into Buckingham Palace with Beatrice in the driver’s seat.
Eugenie seems to favour a less lavish attitude to Christmas dressing, ditching the designers for her cute, red and white, twisted candy cane jewellery.
Their father, the disgraced Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, didn’t seem to have received an invite and was seen caught in a downpour while riding around Windsor Park.
The former prince, who was formally stripped of his titles over his ties to paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.
It is understood that the King does not want to punish the sisters for their father’s actions.
William was behind the wheel as he drove the Princess of Wales and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, to a Christmas lunch hosted by the King.
Louis, seven, appeared to be pouting as he was seen sitting in the back of the car while his elder siblings looked in better spirits as they donned their smart attire for the family celebration.
The King traditionally hosts a meal for his family ahead of going to his Sandringham estate in Norfolk over Christmas.
Other royals in attendance included Prince Edward, his wife Sophie and their daughter Lady Louise, as well as the Duke of Kent, Lady Sarah Chatto and Princess Alexandra.
