White House addresses claims Donald Trump SLEEPS throughout authorities conferences
Donald Trump has been photographed several times recently with his eyes closed at Cabinet meetings and press conferences in the US, sparking concern for his health
Donald Trump has not fallen asleep during government meetings, a senior member of his team has insisted.
The US President has been snapped recently with his eyes closed during Cabinet meetings and press conferences, including twice in the space of one week this month. His press secretary, however, praised the politician’s “amazing” performance during one Cabinet meeting, which lasted several hours.
And although she conceded Mr Trump has closed his eyes during some recent meetings, Susie Wiles, White House Chief of Staff, stressed the world leader hasn’t drifted off in these. In an interview today, she said: “He’s not asleep. He’s got his eyes closed and his head leaned back … and, you know, he’s fine.”
But, during a televised government meeting on December 2, the world leader appeared to nod off a few times throughout the hours-long obligation. Footage from the meeting saw Mr Trump squint his eyes at times, and at least once, fully close them.

One online commentator, who describes himself as a Democrat, shared a video of the Republican president, writing on X: “Trump just fell asleep again. This keeps happening. He’s obviously not okay and anyone who believes he’s healthy is lying to themselves. We’re screwed.”
Another social media user tweeted: “Trump falls asleep as Rubio talks about the war in Ukraine!” Another echoed: “OMG, Trump actually publicly fell asleep during his cabinet meeting at 2pm. MAGA won’t be able to explain this low stamina away. He was up all night posting and didn’t sleep! Trump dozes while Marco Rubio speaks to him, directly next to him. Just insane optics,” someone else agreed.”
But, after the December 2 incident, Mr Trump’s press secretary Karoline Leavitt defended his performance. She said: “President Trump was listening attentively and running the entire three-hour marathon Cabinet meeting.
“In all of these historic meetings, the President and his incredible team highlight the exhaustive list of accomplishments they have delivered on behalf of the American people to Make America Great Again.”
After Mr Trump was also seen closing his eyes during an Oval Office announcement on November 6, a journalist asked the politician how he manages his time. Mr Trump said: “He does not sleep much, and I don’t sleep much, I think we have the same schedule. Thinking about our countries. If you sleep a lot and you’re president … no, he’s not a sleeper, I’m not a sleeper, what else?”
Incredibly, the dad then mocked former President Joe Biden for sleeping “all the time,” one of his longstanding attacks on his predecessor.
