Exact dates you possibly can snap up Christmas greens from 5p in any respect main supermarkets

Major supermarkets Aldi, Lidl, Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and Asda are slashing the prices of a variety of vegetables once more this year just in time for your Christmas dinner

Christmas is often seen as the toughest time for our wallets, so any savings we can secure on our festive shopping would be a welcome relief. And with Christmas dinner being arguably the most significant – and indeed, largest – meal of the year, you can start filling your cupboards on a budget from today.

As has been the tradition in recent years, all major supermarkets have revealed specific dates when veggies will be sold at massively slashed prices. Lidl, Aldi, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Asda and Tesco are all joining the fray with veggie prices starting from a mere 5p between Thursday, December 18 and Christmas Eve.

Christmas Countdown UK has collated data from each of these companies, providing all the dates and prices you need to know. However, it’s worth noting that to maximise your savings at Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons, you’ll need the retailers’ respective Clubcard, Nectar Card and More Card.

Aldi is leading the pack, having reduced what was already an impressive 8p veg promotion to just 5p. Shoppers can bag the following from December 18 to 24: white potatoes; carrots; parsnips, white cabbage; red cabbage; Brussels sprouts; and swede.

Lidl is hot on their heels with their 8p deals, meanwhile. From December 19 to 24 all of the following vegetables will be discounted: echalion shallots; swede; carrots; white potatoes; parsnips; and brussels sprouts.

Shoppers with a Morrisons More Card can snag 10p veggies from December 18 to 24, including carrots, parsnips, Brussels sprouts, and swede.

Meanwhile, Asda, Sainsbury’s, and Tesco customers can snap up a range of 15p veggies during the same period. Indeed, Asda’s selection includes carrots, broccoli, swede, Brussels sprouts, and white potatoes.

Sainsbury’s Nectar Card holders can pick up 15p carrots, parsnips, white potatoes, swede, red cabbage, white cabbage, and Brussels sprouts. Whilst Tesco Clubcard holders can enjoy 15p potatoes, carrots, parsnips, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, swede, and red cabbage.

Aldi announced its own price drop, saying: “Following Morrisons’ recent price drop announcement, supermarket Aldi has announced it will drop the price of its festive veg staples even further as it retains its promise to be the cheapest supermarket to buy a Christmas dinner. What’s more, Aldi has also dropped the price of its British Large Frozen Turkey (from December 18) to as little as £2.46 per kg*, making it officially the cheapest supermarket for all frozen and fresh turkeys.”

Lidl simply stated: “Take your pick from this week’s offers on fruit, veg meat and poultry, in store from Thursday 18/12 – Wednesday 24/12.”

Morrisons said: “Morrisons has slashed the prices of its Christmas dinner veg, helping customers to enjoy the festive trimmings at cut prices, not portions. More Card holders can pick-up the festive field favourites for less including British Carrots (1kg), British Parsnips (500g), British Brussel Sprouts (500g) and British Whole Swede for just 5p each from 18th December until 26th December.”
