Dad’s heartbreaking gesture in courtroom as mum who ‘murdered’ 3 youngsters faces trial
Yasmeen Ali, 43, is accused of murdering her three children, Fares, 7, Joury, 3, and Mohammed, 9 months, in Sea Mills, Bristol in February 2024 – she will stand trial next year
A woman is set to stand trial, accused of the horrific murder of her three children, as their heartbroken father displayed a picture of them in court.
Yasmeen Ali, 43, stands accused of the brutal killing of her children – seven year old Fares Bash, three year old Joury Bash and nine-month-old Mohammed Bash.
The siblings lost their lives due to stab wounds following an incident at their residence in the Sea Mills area of Bristol in February the previous year. During a brief session at Bristol Crown Court on Friday, Judge Peter Blair KC, the Recorder of Bristol, scheduled a tentative trial date for 12th October 2026.
Ali, who was not required to attend the hearing, is currently detained in a psychiatric hospital. The charges stem from an incident that took place in February 2024 on Blaise Walk, Sea Mills.
An earlier inquest revealed that the children succumbed to knife-inflicted injuries, with wounds found on their chests and necks. Fares Bash also exhibited potential signs of asphyxiation.
The children’s grieving father, Alfil Bash – who held up photos of Fares, Joury and Mohammed during the proceedings – attended the hearing along with other community members. The defendant is expected to make her next court appearance via video link on 20th March 2026.
In the aftermath of the incident, Avon and Somerset Police referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct regarding prior contact, but the watchdog concluded that no investigation was necessary.
