Derby second can win £5k race at Huntingdon – Jason Heavey’s ideas
The Daily Star Chief Tipster fancies the 2024 Epsom runner-up to successfully continue his new career over jumps on Monday
DERBY runner-up AMBIENTE FRIENDLY (2.20, trb) can continue his renaissance over hurdles at Huntingdon on Monday.
Eighteen months ago he came close to winning the world’s greatest Flat race at Epsom when he chased home City of Troy.
He backed that up with a terrific third in the Irish Derby at the Curragh.
But since then he has lost his way and James Owen – who is brilliant at reviving the careers of waifs and strays – has been tasked with sweetening him up over jumps.
The first small steps have been taken with a good fourth at Cheltenham followed by a tenacious victory at today’s track.
He returns to Huntingdon for the Download The Priced App Hurdle.
Sam Twiston-Davies will have to get the fractions right on Ambiente Friendly who can race too keenly but he should see off his rivals.
Twiston-Davies can notch a treble on PETTY CASH (12.50) and ELECTRIC EDDY (2.50).
MOUNTAIN MOLLY (1.08, nap) is a strapping mare and Lucinda Russell and Michael Scudamore have wasted little time in putting her over fences.
She won well at Perth over hurdles in September and almost followed up in a handicap when a close second.
Mountain Molly won a point to point and the nice ground at Musselburgh will suit in the Virgin Bet Handicap Chase.
In contrast BEAT THE RETREAT (2.38) may prefer softer ground but he was a good winner on his last run at Ayr three weeks ago and has a course victory under his belt.
TOMMY’S PROMISE (3.30, nb) has every chance of completing a quick fire hat-trick at Lingfield.
He won twice in 11 days and he looks up to defying a 5lb penalty.
HITCHED (12.00) is an eight-time winner and half of those wins have come at Lingfield.
He rarely runs a bad race and is fancied back at his favourite track.
AMERICAN FLIGHT (5.00) is on a roll and that should continue at Wolverhampton, while AMERJEET (5.30) was an eye-catcher on his latest start for his new trainer and is worth a roll of the dice.
