Alan Shearer’s daughters have well-known fiancés however one key distinction to MOTD pundit’s spouse
Newcastle United and England legendary goalscorer turned BBC Match of the Day pundit Alan Shearer’s daughters Hollie and Chloe are both engaged
Alan Shearer’s two daughters are now engaged to their rugby-playing beaus, though their love stories are quite different from their father’s.
Shearer is a legend on Tyneside, having scored 206 goals and provided 58 assists in 405 appearances for Newcastle United. The striker holds the all-time Premier League record with 260 goals in 441 appearances, earning him recognition as one of the league’s greatest forwards.
Throughout his football career, Shearer was supported by his wife, Lainya, and together they have three grown children – Chloe, 33, Hollie, 30, and Will, 25. Both of Shearer’s daughters are often in the public eye, each engaged to their well-known partners.
Hollie, the second eldest, accepted a proposal from England rugby star Joe Marchant in November 2024, after he popped the question in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. This year, Chloe followed in her sister’s footsteps when fellow rugby player Micky Young proposed to the eldest Shearer daughter in Newcastle in November.
The 36-year-old shared the touching moment on social media as he got down on one knee at the Wylam Brewery in the heart of the city. It seems the scrum-half has won over Chloe’s dad too, as Alan responded to the post with three simple words.
“About time too,” he said, hinting that he’d been anticipating this engagement for quite some time. Both pairs frequently find themselves in the public eye thanks to their partners’ sporting careers, although Hollie has also carved out her own niche.
The 30-year-old has built a career as a singer and social media personality, amassing her own dedicated fanbase across multiple platforms. Hollie has nearly 80,000 followers on Instagram and an impressive 335,000 on TikTok.
Chloe works in talent management and recently contributed to Soccer Aid. Meanwhile, Shearer remains active in punditry and has been married to his spouse for more than three decades.
Yet the pair differ from their kids by maintaining their romance away from the public eye, with Lainya favouring a low-profile existence.
Shearer seldom references his wife during his commentary duties and typically reserves mentions of Lainya for nostalgic anecdotes about their partnership.
For example, Shearer shared his wife’s amusing response to his Blackburn transfer in 1992 whilst she was expecting their first child, Chloe.
Speaking on The Rest of Football, he said: “When she was eight months pregnant and looked at me in the car and said, ‘What the f*** have you done?'”
