Spirit ‘throws pram down stairs’ in UK’s most haunted home as hunter ‘scratched’
Ghost hunter Lee Steer claims he captured shocking footage of a pram being hurled down the stairs and was left with a burning scratch after being attacked by a spirit
A ghost hunter claims he captured a spirit throw a pram down stairs in the “UK’s most haunted house” – before it ‘attacked and scratched’ him. Lee Steer and his partner Sarah Carter, 33, spent two nights at 30 East Drive in Yorkshire this month after being on the waiting list for more than a year.
The three-bedroom property is said to be home to the ghost of a young girl and one of the world’s most violent poltergeists – known as “The Black Monk of Pontefract”.
During their stay the 38-year-old claims he encountered many paranormal incidents including being left with a “burning” red scratch on the back of his neck by the child spirit.
While staying in the 50s-style home Lee also claims he captured a ‘pram’ being thrown down the stairs twice while he was setting up his equipment for this first investigation. A shocking video shows the child’s pushchair suddenly falling down the staircase, sending the doll inside it flying.
Lee says the paranormal activity was ‘concerning’ as he’d never been scratched in a haunted property before and Sarah was left “terrified” by the incidents that took place in the home. The “haunted” home in Yorkshire is where the former residents of the Pritchard family were allegedly terrorised there after moving in 1966.
It was claimed that the family’s daughter Diane Pritchard, then 12, was dragged upstairs to her bedroom and almost strangled by her curtains. Lee believes he was struck by a child spirit ‘warning’ them to leave the property immediately due to the haunted history of the home.
Lee, from Rotherham in South Yorkshire, said: “It’s an infamous haunted house. The house is a piece of paranormal history and it is the most visited haunted house in the UK.
“Back in 1966 the Pritchard family that lived there actually experienced poltergeist phenomena and it would terrorise their children and attack them. The family referred to the spirit as Fred [a monk] and they said there was another entity in the house and they believed this was a child who was trying to warn them to get away from the house.
“As we were setting up the equipment on the staircase the pram at the top of the stairs fell down twice. We also went into the coal bunker and this is where people are meant to get attacked and strangled.
“I started to feel a burning sensation on my neck. The investigator checked me out and they saw a scratch mark materialise in front of them.
“It got brighter and red in front of their eyes. You could tell it was a fresh slice. It seemed like it was the child spirit trying to warn us but it doesn’t make sense why she was trying to cause so much havoc.
“If this is not the most dangerous spirit throwing stuff and attacking me, what could they do? I’ve been scratched before but this was only by Elizabeth the haunted doll and this felt like a very different experience.
“I felt it stinging so much and I’ve never moaned about it before. It concerned me and was getting worse. It did concern me a little bit as this has never happened in a haunted building.
“I have never been attacked like this before.” While staying in the property, Lee and his team also heard “cries for help” while carrying out their investigation and said doors “popped open”.
He also claims Sarah was woken up at 3am on their second night by loud bangs, which they believed was the poltergeist spirit “Fred”. Lee said: “I was in the main bedroom by myself and I said ‘I don’t believe in you [the spirit]’ and all of a sudden the door pops open.
“This took me by surprise and was pretty strange. When we did our investigation a lot of things came out through a spiritual method called the Estes method.
“This is where we put headphones on in a different room from where the other people are speaking and there were a lot of signs coming through to show abuse had happened in the home. At 3am in the morning, we heard this banging sound.
“It woke Sarah up and there must have been up to forty bangs on the walls outside. It sounded like someone was knocking on our door. We tried to film it and started filming and we only got two bangs and then it did not happen again.
“It likes it [the spirit] knows and doesn’t want to be filmed. I never really have gut feelings but this time I don’t believe it was the child. Maybe it was Fred.
“It was giving different vibes.” Sarah claims while in the kitchen on her own on one of the evenings she had a marble “thrown” at her with no explanation and was left terrified.
Sarah, from Sheffield in South Yorkshire, said: “I was in the kitchen and had my back to the piano. I didn’t knock anything but we think a marble dropped right behind my back.
“We didn’t hear it roll so I believe it was thrown. This was horrible and frightening as I was on my own.”
