FIFA’s large price for government suite at World Cup ultimate in newest ticket scandal

With the FIFA World Cup just months away, bosses have already come under huge pressure to reduce the cost for fans, but a new tier of tickets is only worsening the situation

FIFA bosses will charge a staggering £2.6m for executive suites at the World Cup final. The suites at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey will hold 24 people, working out at £108,333 per person.

But they will get a private loo. The price tag has yet to be officially released but an insider told us: “FIFA executives are already talking to high-value individuals and deals are being done.

“It could be the case that they are all sold before they are even offered for bookings via the website.” The ground has seven large suites that can hold up to 24 people and a range of smaller boxes.

A suite for a quarter-final clash at Boston Stadium costs £190,000 but details for the semis are yet to be determined. And England and Scotland fans face paying some of the most expensive prices if they want a suite and fans are told: “Each luxury suite includes a thoughtfully designed food & beverage experience for you and your guests.

“Enjoy a continuous flow of preset seasonal dishes paired with premium champagne, wine, beer, spirits, mocktails, and a variety of soft drinks.” FIFA chiefs are also charging £95,000 for Scotland’s game against Morocco in the same stadium, again, 32 spots are available.

A box for England v Ghana is £88,000 — again at the Boston Stadium. The body gushes about the pricey deals: “Experience the best of the beautiful game with complete hospitality packages featuring premium tickets, food and beverage, entertainment, and more.

“How is hospitality different from a general ticket? FIFA World Cup 26 hospitality packages are ticket-inclusive offerings and series that provide premium seating, exclusive entertainment, and upscale food and beverages, with service levels ranging from private suites to shared lounges — and other festive product options within the stadium’s secure perimeter — along with a variety of additional one-of-a-kind experiences.

“These packages provide an elevated experience beyond the standard offerings of other events at host venues, such as NFL games or concerts.” This is not the first time that FIFA have gotten into hot water surrounding the cost of its ticket prices ahead of next year’s tournament.

England fans would have to pay a pretty penny for the ability of even seeing the Three Lions play in the group stages of the tournament after ticket prices were released earlier this month. It was later revealed that should England make it all the way to the final, those who would be shelfing out tickets for the entire journey would need to pay $7,000 (£5,252) for the pleasure.

To add to this, those with disabilities were also dealt a crushing blow as no concessions were made to those who are travelling to see the show. Back in Qatar in 2022, disabled tickets were about £8.80 and companions could get in for free; this year, there is no such thing and disabled fans would have to fork out £337 for a group game.

After weeks of relentless pressure, FIFA backed down and released a wave of cheaper and more accessible tickets worth around £45. These tickets, however, will only be sold through national football associations.
