Boy airlifted to hospital with facial accidents after being attacked by a canine in horror mauling
A toddler has been airlifted to hospital after he was attacked by a dog on the NSW Central Coast.
Multiple emergency services responders, including six ambulance resources, raced to the scene in Bolton Street, Bateau Bay shortly before 6pm on Tuesday.
The two-year-old boy was treated at the scene by paramedics and CareFlight medical crews for facial injuries.
The toddler was flown to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, where he remains in a stable condition.
The breed of the dog is currently unknown.
NSW Police are investigating.
‘Central Coast Council was advised and a ranger dispatched to locate the dog; however, the dog was not located,’ a police statement read.
‘It just chased me up the stairs… just ran up and ran inside and bit me,’ injured teen Kaiden O’Dell, 14 told NBN News.
‘I grabbed its fur, tried pulling it away and Mum dragged me off. It bit me on the leg too. It left six or seven bite marks.’
The dog was shot dead by police when they arrived a short time later.
The other two victims – a man and woman aged in their 30s – remain in Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital.
More to come.
