Manhunt launched for homicide suspect after man, 23, is stabbed to dying in New Year’s Eve assault
A manhunt has been launched for a murder suspect after a 23-year-old man was stabbed to death in a New Year’s Eve attack in Lewisham.
Police were called to the scene on Grove Street, south-east London, following reports a man had been stabbed at around 12.35pm today.
The individual in his 20s was treated by medics from London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance after sustaining a wound to the chest.
The young man was pronounced dead at the scene, despite the best efforts of medical staff.
His next of kin have been informed and are currently being supported by specialist officers.
The Metropolitan Police has since launched a murder probe, however no arrests have been made in relation to the incident.
A police cordon remains in place at the scene of the crime, the force has also confirmed.

Detective Chief Inspector Sam Townsend, who is leading the investigation said: ‘Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the victim’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.
‘Our investigation is progressing swiftly as we work to establish the full circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
‘We understand that this will understandably cause concern within the local community. Please be assured that we have increased patrols in the area, and this investigation remains our highest priority.’
