Boy in Swiss bar hearth held crucifix in his hand and raging flames ‘went round him’

A young man caught inside a blazing Swiss ski bar escaped death in what a witness described as an extraordinary act of faith, after sitting down clutching a crucifix while flames raged around him during the fatal inferno.
The fire erupted at approximately 1.30am local time (12.30am GMT) in the basement of Le Constellation, a well-known bar situated in the heart of the Alpine resort of Crans-Montana.
Eyewitness Laetitia Place said the youth was unable to flee as the situation rapidly deteriorated and escape routes were cut off. With exits blocked and no clear path to safety, he reportedly sat inside the venue holding a crucifix as the fire continued to burn close by.
Although flames surrounded him, the area where he was seated was not touched by the fire. “He survived, thankfully,” Ms Place said. “He managed to get out and he broke a window to escape,” reports MailOnline.
