Luke Littler snapped buying at Tesco with girlfriend earlier than World Darts Championship remaining
Luke Littler has been snapped out and about at a local Tesco just hours before his £1million match in the final of the World Darts Championship against Gian van Veen
Luke Littler has been snapped shopping at Tesco with his girlfriend Faith Millar, just hours before he defends his World Darts Championship crown against Gian van Veen.
Littler, 18, overcame the boos of the Ally Pally as he dispatched Ryan Searle with relative ease during the first semi-final of the evening. And Van Veen would then overcome an instant classic with Gary Anderson.
However, with just hours before their £1million clash, a casual, relaxed Littler was seen purchasing a meal deal with his girlfriend and close pal Angry Ginge. Snaps showed Littler with his hood up, looking cool, calm, and collected ahead of the final.
He was chatting with both Faith and AngryGinger, real name Morgan Burtwistle, as he clutched a bag for life.
AngryGinge, who also had his hood up in an oversized grey hoodie like Littler, was in the players section to cheer on his mate during the semi-finals. He had missed Littler’s opening win as he was still down under starring on I’m A Celebrity! Get Me Out Of Here.
Littler is looking to become the first man since Gary Anderson a decade ago to go back-to-back at the World Darts Championship.
The Nuke has only ever lost one game on the Ally Pally stage – at the hands of Luke Humphries during the 2024 final. However, he would put that behind him to beat Michael van Gerwen 12 months ago.
And he faces another Dutchman on Saturday evening in the form of Van Veen.
“In their primes they [Taylor and Michael van Gerwen] were just absolutely unbelievable. I was watching it as a kid and with what I’ve done, I can say I’m playing just as well,” Littler said in his post-match press conference on Friday evening.
“Obviously with the titles, the averages, the amount of nine-darters on TV. Maybe if I get to tomorrow [and win], then I might be on that same level.
“I’ve joined another list of short names – now obviously the only goal is to join a list of people going back-to-back world champions,” Littler added.
“It’s very special to just keep adding to these lists that I don’t know about, but now the main goal is to go back to back.
“Obviously I’ve got every right to think I can [go back to back], but I never, ever say I’m going to win it. I never say I’m going to win this and that.”
He added the best might be yet to come: “I think I could have gone a bit better tonight. I obviously missed a few doubles, but I was very happy with the tops tonight.
“I think there’s a bit more in the tank [against Gian van Veen]. Obviously, a near enough 105 tonight is very good. I think we can up it a little bit more tomorrow and get a bit better.
“I think now it’ll be 19 games played here and 15 ton-plus averages, so that’s not a bad stat at all. That’s obviously why I’m winning games here – hopefully another ton-plus average tomorrow and a win.”
