I got here face-to-face with ‘Britain’s angriest man’ in cycle rage assault: Grandmother reveals how infamous bike rider – jailed for TWO outbursts at ladies – screamed abuse at her after crashing into her canine

After an image of his spittle–flecked red face contorted in rage went viral, Peter Abbott was described as ‘Britain’s angriest man’.

The 62–year–old road rage driver and cyclist spent Christmas in prison when a second ranting outburst at an innocent woman was again caught on camera.

Abbott first came to public attention in 2023 when the Daily Mail revealed his identity after video of his extraordinary road rage verbal assault in a Tesco carpark went viral.

And last month we told how the self employed translator from Bournemouth, Dorset, had been jailed after his terrifying outburst of cycle rage directed at a woman walking her newborn baby and dog on a beach when he was cycling.

Now we can reveal for the first time details of yet another misogynistic tirade launched by Abbott – this time on a blameless woman and her dog.

Mandy Bascombe told how her disturbing encounter with him began when he crashed into her dog when she was out walking in Bournemouth in August 2024 – just months after he had completed an anger management course to avoid jail.

The 68–year–old widow was strolling with a friend along Alum Chine beach with her Spanish podenco dog Zara when Abbott, who was clad in lycra, tried to ride his bike between her and her pet – even though the animal was on a lead.

This meant Abbott’s front wheel tangled with the lead, causing him to fall off his bike – and sparking a violent outburst of anger.

Within seconds, red–faced Abbott was on his feet, screaming f–word peppered abuse into the faces of both Mandy and her friend Sandi Ridge.

Speaking exclusively to the Mail, Mandy recalled: ‘My dog was on the lead, and he came from behind and just rode between us, which pulled the lead, and he ran over her with his wheels.

‘He fell off his bike and landed on the sand and then started shouting – ‘bloody stupid dog.’

‘You couldn’t reason with him, he just wanted to shout abuse – ‘you’re stupid, the dog was stupid,’

‘He was just really angry. I wasn’t really scared of him, I was more angry at what he had done and worried about my dog.

‘He was kicking off for about ten minutes. There was no apology, no ‘is your dog okay?” He acted like it was the dog’s fault.

‘Eventually he rode off. Thankfully Zara was okay, if a bit shaken up.’

Because there was no footage or CCTV of the tirade and she had no idea of his identity Mandy did not report the incident to police initially.

But when she later saw a police appeal for information about the incident involving Abbott in the Tesco car park, circulating his now notorious picture, she recognised him and did report him.

She added: ‘I didn’t report it at the time because I didn’t know who he was. It was only when my friend and I saw the police appeal for the other lady who was attacked and realised it was the same guy.’

After eventually reporting the incident, Mandy was told by police that they could not take any action as the time limit on prosecuting him for any offence had passed – and there was no video footage to corroborate his angry outburst.

Abbott finally got his comeuppance more than a year later after being brought before magistrates for another angry confrontation with a woman on the same beach four months later.

He was jailed in December after getting into an angry confrontation with another woman, who had been walking with her baby and her dog on the Alum Chine beach in Bournemouth, where he had previously raged at Mandy.

The keen cyclist was already serving a suspended prison sentence for the incident in August 2023 when he shrieked at a woman driver in a Tesco’s car park for beeping at him after he pulled out in front of her.

Angry Abbot was sentenced to six weeks behind bars by magistrates in Poole for breaching his suspended sentence.

That ugly row first erupted when he cycled straight into the woman’s dog, which was off its lead, prompting her to shout out at him.

The incident, once again, escalated rapidly and Abbott began to exhibit ‘pure rage’ in front of several witnesses on December 3 last year, Poole Magistrates’ Court heard.

He was caught on camera telling a member of the public: ‘Shut the f*** up or I’ll kick you up the a***.’

He also challenged another man to a fight and called him a ‘weed’.

During the Tesco car park incident he was similarly filmed banging on motorist Samantha Isaac’s windscreen with his fists, calling her a ‘f****** tart’, a ‘b****’ and a ‘whore’.

Dorset Police issued an appeal with an image of the angry cyclist and Abbott was arrested a few weeks later.

Abbott pleaded guilty to using threatening or abusive words or behaviour to cause fear, distress or alarm.

The judge at the time spared him jail for this but ordered that he attend an anger management course.
