Nudist bandit arrested at gunpoint after embarking on alleged carjacking spree
Suspect Mackienzy Kahl was spotted prowling through a Georgia neighbourhood wearing nothing but a tablecloth and a pair of slippers before being arrested following a wild alleged carjacking spree
A nearly nude bandit embarked on a frenzied alleged carjacking spree through a neighbourhood whilst clad in nothing more than a tablecloth before being arrest by police at gunpoint.
On Friday Gwinnett County police, Georgia, received reports of a stolen vehicle motor believed to be in the hands of the nude carjacking suspect, Mackienzy Kahl. Later that day, officers located the vehicle, though Kahl was not found inside the vehicle.
Witnesses informed authorities Kahl had legged it on foot before police arrived on the scene and officers spotted evidence suggesting he may have been “exposed to chemicals” whilst in the car.
The chemicals Kahl was allegedly exposed to remains unclear, though police bodycam footage showed responding officers discussing whether Kahl had sustained chlorine burns and revealed showed an abandoned pool servicing lorry.
Whilst officers hunted for Kahl, police said numerous emergency calls about a man matching his description roaming the area wearing only a tablecloth and trying to break into various vehicles. CCTV footage released by police captured Kahl – almost nude – skulking about in what appeared to be glasses, a pair of blue slippers and a beige tablecloth carelessly wrapped round his waist.
According to authorities, the partially nude burglar reportedly entered an occupied house and stealing the keys to a Mercedes before making his getaway. The police swiftly located the stolen Mercedes, carried out a traffic stop, and apprehended Kahl at gunpoint, shown in dramatic bodycam footage.
Kahl has been hit with a number of charges, including theft, first-degree burglary, entering an automobile with the intent to commit theft or a felony, loitering and prowling, and driving without a valid licence.
The Daily Star previously reported on what car is most commonly targeted by carjackers in the UK as over 100,000 car thefts were reported across England and Wales from the 2023/24. 129,159 motor vehicle thefts were reported in England and Wales in 2023/24, according to Statista. This remains around the same as the previous year’s report, showing criminals are targeting vehicles up and down the country.
But some cars are more desirable than others, with certain models being specifically targeted for certain reasons, according to authorities.
The reliable Ford Fiesta topped the list for the most grabbed vehicle, and has been first since January 2018. Confused.com found 10,346 Ford Fiestas were reported taken during that time, with the Volkswagen Golf in second place, closely followed by BMW 3 Series in third.
The experts found London was the most popular area for thefts, with around 30,000 cars reported stolen since January 2018. After that, Birmingham boasted 27,680, and Manchester took third with just over 10,000.
