Elon Musk’s ex loses Twitter blue tick after slagging off his perv chatbot Grok
Ashley St Clair had hit out at Elon Musk’s X after its artificial intelligence chatbot was used to create deepfake sexualised images of her by manipulating real pictures
Elon Musk’s ex-girlfriend has lost the ability to monetize her content on his social media site after she criticised his perverted chatbot for making fake sexualised images of her.
Political strategist Ashley St Clair – who became estranged from Musk after the birth of their child in 2024 – claimed supporters of the car salesman were using Grok to create a form of revenge porn – and had even undressed a picture of her as a child.
It came as a charity said its analysis found “photo-realistic child sexual abuse material” of girls aged between 11 and 13 which “appears to have been created” using Grok, which can be accessed through Musk’s social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter).
She posted a phot on X of notifications telling her that her monetization and her creator revenue systems had been paused. She wrote: “They took my checkmark and canceled my twitter premium lmao.”
She later added: “U can’t be monetized if u call the MechaHitler pedo robot out.” When asked if X had offered her an explanation, she told a follower: “None. There is no email.”
She also hit back at one user who criticised her for sharing the images: “I quote tweeted the images GROK MADE & POSTED OF ME asking for them to be removed. Also they didn’t just demonetize me they completely cancelled my premium with no explanation lol.”
Grok has come under fire from lawmakers worldwide after it emerged it had been used to make fake explicit images of women and children and show them in compromising sexualised positions.
And St Clair, who said she purchased an annual subscription in August last year, was among the most vocal critics of the practice, which saw Grok create an image of her bent over in a bikini.
She told the Guardian earlier this week: “I felt horrified, I felt violated, especially seeing my toddler’s backpack in the back of it. It’s another tool of harassment. Consent is the whole issue.
“People are saying, well, it’s just a bikini, it’s not explicit. But it is a sexual offence to non-consensually undress a child.”
A manipulated image of St Clair as a 14-year-old had been online for 12 hours by Monday afternoon and was finally removed after the Guardian sought comment from X, the paper reported.
A premium account on X allows users to set up a creator subscription and receive a % of the revenue the platform earns from their followers.
X says it “may remove the checkmark (tick) of an account at any time without notice” from accounts that are found to be in violation of the X Rules.
St. Clair, known for her online commentary, began posting about the issue om Sunday after a friend brought it to her attention.
One British women have told how trolls have used the AI tool to generate more than 100 deepfake sexualised images of her in less than a week.
xAI’s policy states that it forbids users to create content that sexualizes children but doesn’t have rules against generating sexual images of adults.
British media watchdog Ofcom said earlier this week it had made “urgent contact” with X about the images and said it was also investigating concerns Grok has been producing “undressed images” of people.
The Daily Star has contact X for comment.
