Jesse Watters Makes Sure To Point Out ICE Shooting Victim Had ‘Pronouns In Her Bio’

Fox News host Jesse Watters is drawing outrage online after offering a reductive on-air description of the Minneapolis woman shot and killed by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent Wednesday.
The victim in the shooting has been identified as Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old Twin Cities resident and mother who lived with her partner in the same neighborhood where she was killed.

On Wednesday’s installment of “Jesse Watters Primetime,” however, the host made a point to emphasize Good’s sexuality and social media presence while commenting on her death.
“The woman who lost her life was a self-proclaimed poet from Colorado with pronouns in her bio. A 37-year-old white woman named Renee Good,” he said. “The Daily Mail says she leaves behind a lesbian partner and a child from a previous marriage.”
He added, “She was a disruptor, though she considered herself a legal observer. But there’s no evidence she had a law degree.”

A clip of Watters’ remarks, shared on X by journalist Aaron Rupar, was widely condemned by a number of public figures.
“Pronouns in her bio? A POET?!?!!” actor and comedian Patton Oswalt wrote. “Why didn’t that brave ICE agent empty his full clip?”

California state Sen. Scott Wiener (D) echoed those sentiments, writing: “In the pantheon of psychopaths, Jesse Watters is an apex predator.”
Meanwhile, podcaster Halle Kiefer suggested Watters had an ulterior motive in describing Good, who leaves behind a 6-year-old son, so dismissively.
“She’s white, so he has to emphasize that she’s queer, so his viewers understands her death is acceptable,” she wrote on X. “The Fox News audience should begin asking themselves, ‘What about me will Jesse Watters use to rationalize MY being killed, so that Fox News fans know not to be concerned?’”

Watters also came under fire Wednesday after Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) accused him of using “sexually exploitative rhetoric” while declining an invite from one of his producers to appear on his Fox News show.
President Donald Trump and members of his administration have attempted to frame Good’s death as an act of self-defense, with Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem describing Good’s behavior prior to the shooting as an act of “domestic terrorism.”
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, however, has vehemently disputed that characterization, calling it “bullshit.”

“This was an agent recklessly using power that resulted in somebody dying,” Frey said at a Wednesday news conference.“I have a message for ICE. To ICE: Get the fuck out of Minneapolis.”
