Brave punters halt alleged gunman from opening fireplace in horror Dublin pub incident
A masked man allegedly brandishing a gun entered The 79 Inn in Ballyfermot, west Dublin, last night in a terrifying incident that saw brave punters throw a bar stool at him
A chilling episode unfolded in West Dublin last night as a masked gunman stormed into a pub.
The 79 Inn in Ballyfermot was the scene of the terrifying incident, with Gardai responding to reports of an armed man entering the establishment. In a show of courage, it’s believed that the patrons inside managed to thwart the gunman from discharging his weapon by hurling a bar stool at him.
The intended victim reportedly managed to escape amidst the chaos as the crowd inside the bustling pub confronted the attacker. The assailant, who is said to have been donning a balaclava, made a swift exit from the scene just as Gardai arrived, reports Dublin Live.
It’s thought that the incident was sparked by a heated verbal exchange earlier in the evening.
Gardai confirmed they are “investigating an incident at a licensed premises in Ballyfermot, Dublin 10, yesterday evening, Saturday 10th January 2026.
“No injuries have been reported. Enquiries are ongoing,” a garda spokesperson added.
It comes as at least six individuals, including a seven year old girl, have tragically lost their lives in a mass shooting after a man reportedly targeted his own family members.
A 24-year-old man is said to have systematically attacked three separate homes in West Point, Mississippi on Friday night, according to officials. Authorities have confirmed that four of the victims were related to the alleged shooter.
Heartbreakingly, one of the victims has been identified as a seven year old girl, who was discovered with a gunshot wound to her head. It’s understood she was the second cousin of the shooter. The shootings took place in the rural community of Cedarbluff, located west of the county seat of West Point.
Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott named Daricka M. Moore as the suspect during a press conference, reports Sun. The 24-year-old is facing a first-degree murder charge that could potentially be upgraded to capital murder, stated Scott.
“I will say at this point, we do not know a motive for these acts,” Scott said. Moore may also face additional murder charges. Authorities reported that the first shooting occurred at a home on David Hill Road, where three people were killed.
