Trump formally declares himself ‘performing president of Venezuela’ as he ‘runs’ nation

Trump has shared a fake Wikipedia page dubbing him the ‘Acting President of Venezuela’ in a recent social media post – the development comes after the US captured the former Venezuelan resident

Donald Trump has shared a fake version of his Wikipedia page in which the US president is referred to as the “Acting President of Venezuela.”

The post was shared on the US president’s social media site TruthSocial and comes after the US ousted former Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro’s in the early hours of Saturday, January 3. Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, have been moved to New York to answer to narco-terrorism charges in a historic move and currently being held at notorious Metropolitan Detention Center.

Maduro has pleaded not guilty to charges of narcoterrorism and stated he is still Venezuela’s rightful leader. After the operation capturing the Venezuelan president Washington announced it would “run” the Latin American country until the Venezuela was stable enough to hold free and fair elections.

Following Maduro’s removal it was reported the power vacuum would be filled temporarily by “a small committee” headed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The committee was said to be aided “with the president heavily engaged” and it would also be consisted of Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine, CIA Director of John Ratcliffe, White House adviser Stephen Miller, Energy Secretary Chris Wright, and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum.
