Hundreds of physique luggage ‘linked to Cartels’ discovered subsequent to main 2026 World Cup stadium
Just miles from a 2026 World Cup stadium, over 400 bags of human remains have been unearthed from dozens of secret graves, casting a grim spotlight on a of disappearances and cartel violence
Hundreds of bags filled with human remains have been discovered near a stadium set to host matches for the 2026 World Cup. The shocking find, linked to dozens of secret graves within a 10-mile radius of the stadium, has put a spotlight on an ongoing crisis of disappearances.
A gruesome finding has rocked Mexico just ahead of the 2026 World Cup. Over 400 bags stuffed with human remains have reportedly been found close to Estadio Akron, one of the tournament’s official venues.
Search teams have reportedly said the unearthing is connected to a series of secret graves in the area. This has consequently sparked negative scrutiny on Mexico’s ongoing crisis of missing people.
The chilling discoveries reportedly began back in February 2025, when construction workers putting up new homes in Las Agujas, just over nine miles from Estadio Akron, stumbled across plastic bags stuffed with human remains. Since then, families searching for their missing loved ones have tallied up at least 500 bags from just four of the secret graves near the stadium.
Jaime Aguilar of the Guerreros Buscadores de Jalisco group dedicated to finding individuals who have been victims of forced disappearance said: “In Jalisco, the missing are made to vanish. This is so it won’t be known; they want to erase all traces of the disappeared.”
The collective claimed that at least 22 hidden burial sites have now been uncovered in the area surrounding the World Cup venue, Spanish news outlet El País reported. Jalisco now ranks fourth in Mexico for the number of missing persons, with 2,483 cases reported between January and November 2025, according to El País.
Around 22 groups of desperate families have been searching for their missing relatives in the Guadalajara area alone. Sadly, the horror isn’t new.
Between November 2024 and January 2025, at least 100 bags of remains were reportedly uncovered in Lomas del Refugio, just 11 miles from the stadium.
Another 89 bags were found in Nextipac, also within 11 miles of Estadio Akron, where over a dozen bodies have already been identified. Members of the Guerreros Buscadores de Jalisco collective noted: “All the findings are gaining attention, because they’re being linked to the World Cup.
“It’s several miles away, but this is happening near a World Cup stadium! But, for example, right in front of the Akron Stadium is the Primavera Forest, where, for years, many mass graves have been found… and that’s much closer than Las Agujas or Arroyo Hondo.”
The tragic findings are a direct manifestation of Mexico’s ongoing humanitarian crisis. Moreover, the state of Jalisco is the primary stronghold of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), one of the world’s most powerful and violent criminal organisations.
Many victims are consequently caught in violent conflicts between rival cartels fighting for control over trafficking routes and territories. Additionally, some remains found in clandestine sites belong to individuals who were lured through fake job offers and forced into cartel service or training camps.
Some areas near the stadium, such as a ranch in nearby Teuchitlán, have been identified as dedicated extermination and training sites used by cartels for over a decade. Furthermore, many discoveries are made by civilian search collectives rather than state authorities, who are often accused of ignoring tips or failing to properly investigate known burial sites.
