Wolverhampton hearth as ‘a number of explosions’ heard whereas smoke fills the sky
A major incident has been reported after local residents reportedly heard several explosions as a huge smoke plume can be seen across Wolverhampton.
The incident, which is believed to have started in the early hours of this morning (January 14), is reportedly in the area of Upper Villiers Street.
Speaking to local publication Express & Star, resident Karl Geraghty said: “There is thick black smoke and flames and I can hear explosions. It is clearly a major fire.”
Other locals have reported to seeing flames “clearly visible” from a distance.
West Midlands Roads has urged people to “avoid the area” as it confirms closures on Upper Villiers Street in both directions at the junctions of Marston Road and Sunbeam Street.

West Midlands Fire Service has been contacted for comment on the situation.
