Luke Littler may financial institution an additional £150k due to new rule at Saudi Arabia Darts Masters
Luke Littler could bank an eye-watering sum at the Saudi Arabia Darts Masters next week if he lands the “golden bullseye” in a quirky new rule
Luke Littler could land a massive windfall at the Saudi Arabia Darts Masters thanks to a quirky new rule.
Littler, 18, was back in action for the first time since his Paddy Power PDC World Darts Championship success over Gian van Veen on Thursday afternoon. The Nuke overcame the Singapore Slinger Paul Lim in the Bahrain Darts Masters.
However, he might already have one eye on next weeks event in Saudi, with with a staggering $200,000 (£149,000) on offer for a perfect nine-dart finish followed by a ‘Golden Bull’. Darts stars can bag $100,000 (£74,700), if they land a nine-dart finish.
However, that total can then be doubled by successfully landing a single golden dart into the bullseye. Speaking about the prize on offer, ITV’s Mark Webster joked: “If a player hits a nine-darter they will get $100,000. Not bad, is it?
“Then one single dart at the bullseye, if they can hit that with their next dart, they will receive an extra $100,000.
“So 10 perfect darts is $200,000. Not bad is it? If they did that in the first leg, it would be job done.”
The lucrative offer comes off the back Littler signing an eye-watering £20m, 10-year contract, with Target Darts and after bagging £1m for winning the World Championship.
Reflecting on the deal, Luke Littler said: “Target has believed in me from day one and I’m delighted that there are many more years to come.
“From my playing career to my product range, we’ve built everything together and I’m really excited to commit to our partnership long-term and see where we can take this next.”
Littler will be joined in Riyadh next week by fellow stars including Luke Humphries, Michael van Gerwen, Gian van Veen, Gerwyn Price, Stephen Bunting, Nathan Aspinall and Danny Noppert.
