Trump tells Europe to ‘do higher’ as ‘you are not even recognisable anymore’
US President Donald Trump has used his special address at the World Economic Forum (WEF) to hit our at Europe as he claims parts are ‘not even recognisable anymore’
Donald Trump has has slammed European nations as “not heading in the right direction” while bragging over US success.
The US President has said told World Economic Forum that some of “Europe is not recognisable” anymore.
He said: “The places where you come from can do much better by following what we’re doing because certain places in Europe are not even recognisable anymore.
“I love Europe and I want to see Europe go good, but it’s not heading in the right direction.”
He also mentioned he wanted the “UK to succeed” as he questioned why they have not done more with oil in the North Sea.
Trump attacked the UK’s green energy policies, saying they had led to “catastrophically low levels” of power generation “with equally high prices”.
His comments come during his address to the World Economic Forum in the Swiss Alps, where his ambitions to take control of Greenland from Nato ally Denmark could tear relations with European allies and overshadow his original plan to use his appearance at the gathering of global elites to address affordability issues in the US.
Nearly 3,000 high-level participants from 130 countries, plus an untold number of activists and observers, are expected to converge on the annual event scheduled to last until Friday for dialogue, debate and deal-making in the Alpine resort.
Trump’s third visit as president comes as US allies worry about his ambition to take over Greenland, while Latin America grapples with his efforts to seize Venezuela’s oil.
