Famous UK swingers membership with dungeons and Harry Potter space prone to closing

A well-equipped swingers club has attracted tens of thousands of punters over the years looking to let off some randy steam with other couples, whether they know them or not.

The Attic Experience is a swingers establishment featuring more than 40 rooms with various themes including dungeon, school and disco settings. Located on Ascot Drive in Derby, the venue is run by Ron Rothwell and has been in operation since 2004.

The business had to relocate from its two-decade base on a business park off Osmaston Road several years back. It has since welcomed around 20,000 visitors so far to its current premises, according to Ron.

The club boasts dozens of adult-themed chambers, with plans to add in a few more rooms in the future. Several of the current areas feature full and half-doors and mirrors, enabling any curious spectators to observe what’s going on inside, with appropriate consent, according to DerbyshireLive.

The place also houses dungeon chambers, a ‘silhouette room’, a classroom, a disco space and even a Harry Potter-themed area.

Ron revealed that the Ascot Drive location has welcomed guests from across the nation, plus some international visitors. The sex cinema reportedly remains the club’s most sought-after feature, accommodating up to 40 people simultaneously.

Nevertheless, a licensing hearing is scheduled for this week following an objection to the cinema application submitted to the council. Local councillors must now determine whether to approve a licence for the cinema at the Ascot Drive premises.

Ron warned that if the council rejects their proposal, The Attic may face closure. He expressed concern that without the adult film cinema, interest in the club could dwindle.

Describing the potential closure as “devastating”, Mr Rothwell praised the club’s Ascot Drive location as a resounding success. He passionately stated: “I love this place. I don’t do it for the money – I do it for the people. They love it here. We’ve been going for 22 years.

“It is one of the best clubs in the country. I would be devastated if we closed. I’ve put my heart and soul into it. There’s never been any trouble here.” Speaking in 2019, Ron explained that The Attic provides his patrons with a space to “meet other people and live out fantasies”.

He further elaborated: “The service we offer is somewhere safe and friendly where people can come and do their own thing. It’s a safe and clean environment at all times.”

Mr Rothwell emphasised that The Attic is committed to creating an inclusive atmosphere, ensuring that gay, lesbian, bisexual and trans individuals feel welcomed.

He proudly declared: “We have them all! We do have a big transvestite community because it’s safe here and sort of out of the way. They have plenty of room to do whatever they want.”
