Bride shouts ‘not on my marriage ceremony day’ as ‘police’ storm celebration searching for dad

Guests of Robyn Ellis-Robson, 31 and her new husband, Arron were left gobsmacked after ‘officers’ crashed their fairytale wedding in search of the father-of-the-bride

A bride orchestrated a surprise prank at her wedding reception, leaving guests stunned. Robyn Ellis-Robson, 31, arranged for two ‘police officers’ to arrive at the event, claiming to be searching for her father, Steven.

The guests were oblivious to the ruse, with only Robyn’s husband, Arron, and her father in on the joke. A video of the incident shows Robyn shouting “not on my wedding day” as the ‘officers’ approach. However, the mood quickly shifts when one of the ‘policemen’ grabs a microphone and asks if everyone is ready to party.

The room erupts in cheers as they launch into a rendition of ‘All You Need is Love’, followed by a medley of love songs. The guests join in, dancing, singing, and waving napkins in the air. The ‘police officers’, revealed to be singers Steven James and Gary Hodgson, had been hired by Robyn to create a unique and memorable experience, reports Chronicle Live.

Robyn explained: “I had seen singing waiters at a lot of people’s weddings, but I wanted something a little bit different. My dad was the perfect person to have the police come in and arrest. My dad was in on it and Arron, but all the other guests didn’t have a clue.”

The prank was so convincing that some guests were genuinely alarmed, with Robyn’s cousin shouting at the ‘police’ and others telling them to leave. “They all said it was out of order for them to turn up on my wedding day. Some of them were going mental. The more they were shouting the more other people believed it.”

The lovebirds first crossed paths at the airport six years ago en route to Benidorm with mutual mates, and Robyn reveals that they moved in together straight after returning home. Arron, who’s employed at DPD, popped the question at home towards the end of 2022, just before a limo arrived to whisk them off for celebratory drinks.

Interestingly, this was their second wedding ceremony, as the duo had previously flown to Las Vegas for another service. On their UK big day, Robyn also showcased a ten-foot tall wedding cake, magazines chronicling their lives, a choreographed first dance, and three outfit changes.

For the singing surprise, they had initially booked a troupe of singing policemen, but Robyn says they pulled out three days prior, nearly spoiling the stunt. However, local singing waiter company No1 Singing Waiters swooped in to rescue the situation, sourcing some police uniforms for the occasion.

Her dad had been let in on the wedding prank three months earlier, but Robyn suspects he might have forgotten by the time it actually unfolded, so he too was quite taken aback initially. Robyn, who runs a dog hotel, added: “When they came in and started singing and dancing realising it was a joke it just set the atmosphere right off.

“Everyone was up dancing, having a great time. They all loved it, they were saying it was the best surprise. They couldn’t get their heads around it.

“I think it was absolutely great and it is something completely different. I think people are starting to click about the singing waiters so I think the singing policemen is quite a new thing. I like over the top glamourous and magical. It was a big fairytale wedding.”
