White House hits again after criticism of penguin image and ramps up on-line trolling

The White House is doubling down despite backlash after it posted a picture of Donald Trump with a penguin, as social media users were quick to point out the feathered beasts reside in south pole…not the north pole

The White House’s social media team has hit back at internet trolls after the US President’s team seemingly proved they don’t know anything about basic geography, or that they pre-emptively announced an invasion of the South Pole.

Over the last few days, Trump has stirred up controversy (once again) with an AI-generated image of Trump and a penguin wandering hand-in-flipper across an icy landscape. The caption simply read: “Embrace the penguin”. The penguin is also seen clutching a US flag.

Critics would argue that it was a metaphor for the idiocy of the Trump regime. One of those geographical facts you get taught when you’re about 10 years old is that penguins live in the South Pole, not the North Pole.

It’s not something you need to remember, it’s just lodged there – along with your mum’s birthday date and your pin number. Critics would argue it’s clear Trump’s team need to go back to the classroom.

However, despite the internet trolls having a field day with the social media team’s faux-pas, they decided to double down instead of owning up to their mistake, and reposted the image with the post: “The penguin does not concern himself with the opinions of those who cannot comprehend.”

The original tweet already sparked a huge amount of backlash as social media users in their thousands queue up to inform the White House penguins don’t live in Greenland.

“This is why Europeans continue to question whether education is illegal in the United States,” chimed one X user.

“You should really consider squeezing some basic geography in between the active shooter drills in your schools,” opined another.

It comes after Trump claimed to have worked out the “framework” of a future agreement on Greenland after weeks of threatening to annexe the Danish territory.

The US president came out of discussions with Nato secretary general Mark Rutte on Wednesday convinced that an agreement was within reach and that all sides were satisfied with it.

Denmark stated it was willing to engage in talks provided its borders are respected – but has pointedly not backed any elements of the deal briefed to the press or spoken about publicly by Mr Rutte.
