Bomb scare brought on by ‘ticking in a bin’ turned out to be a ‘big’ pink intercourse toy
The bomb scare turned out to be a false alarm when a ticking noise in a garden bin turned out to be a “huge pink sex toy”, which an ex-soldier has joked he would keep to show his mates
A former bomb disposal expert was called in to investigate a ticking in a bin – only to find a “huge” sex toy. The retired soldier, 47, poked around with a cane before hooking out a pink vibrator.
The discarded dildo was found in Mansfield, Notts., earlier this month, but it is not known why it had been thrown away. The ex-soldier, who is now an engineer and did not wish to be named, joked: “You could say it was a sex bomb.”
He said he is keeping the toy for a chuckle when pals visit, adding: “It could have been someone disposing of an embarrassing Christmas present, or just a prank.”
Local Margaret Lane told The Sun on Sunday: “It was so loud and you can’t be too careful. I’m no authority on such things but it was huge.”
It’s not the first time a sex you has sparked a bomb scare. In April 2021, a jogger in Germany reported finding a suspicious package in a forest near the country’s borders with Austria and Czech Republic, where hidden WW2 munitions are often found.
But when the bomb squad arrived, they discovered the clear plastic bag contained a grenade-shaped rubber sex toy, empty tube of lubricant, two unused condoms in a tin and a USB cable.
Five years earlier, a German amusement arcade was evacuated when a worker heard a suspicious “ticking and humming” sound coming from a bin in the men’s toilets.
But a tense three hour operation came to an abrupt end when explosives officers found the “suspicious object” in question was a discarded sex toy.
Officers took a photo of the offending item, which appeared to be a vibrating penis ring thrown away along with its packaging.
A police spokesman said at the time: “They recovered a battery-operated sex toy, which sounded particularly loud because of the bin’s resonance.”
And in 2011, anti-terror bomb experts were called to a post office in the northwest of Russia after a strange ticking sound was heard coming from a package, a few months after an attack at an airport killed 37.
The building was evacuated and a huge emergency response scrambled, but officers were stunned to find a sex toy which had been “accidentally” turned on.
