Major nuclear web site hit with ‘explosion’ as fears of Trump WW3 invasion rise

As fears of World War only appear to be rising, tensions are starting to boil over after a military complex within Iran, known for developing nuclear energy, was rocked by a mysterious “explosion”

A military facility in Iran has been hit by a reported blast amid claims that US President Donald Trump is considering a strike against Tehran, Iran’s capital city. The cause of the explosion remains unclear, even hours after the explosion.

Open Source Intel, which bills itself as a media monitoring service, reported a blast on Tuesday (January 27) at the Parchin “military complex”, citing journalist and Iranian political analyst Behnam Gholipour.

The unverified explosion report comes as tensions only seem to rise across the Middle East, with a US aircraft carrier group now positioned to spearhead any American military response to Iran’s brutal suppression of nationwide protests.

The deployment of the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier alongside its escort of guided missile destroyers gives the US strike capability against Iran. Gulf Arab nations have already indicated they plan to remain neutral in any assault despite accommodating American military forces.

Trump’s remarks came following nationwide protests in an attempt to overthrow the Islamic regime, which has been in power following the revolution in 1979. Tehran agreed not to kill protesters, in exchange for Trump dropping threats of an all-out war; however, relations remain incredibly frosty between the two countries.

The Parchin military facility has been central to Iran’s suspected nuclear weapons programme. The site was allegedly hit in Israeli air raids last June as part of broader strikes targeting Iran’s nuclear and missile capabilities, according to the Express.

Iran has vowed to plunge the entire Middle Eastern region into conflict, though its air defences and armed forces remain weakened after the June conflict initiated by Israel. However, whilst tensions flared abroad, they were also rising at home.

Economic pressure on Iran could trigger renewed unrest as everyday essentials gradually become unaffordable for ordinary Iranians. The US-based Human Rights Activists News Agency placed the latest fatality count from the regime’s vicious suppression at a minimum of 6,126 people.

It recorded the casualties as comprising at least 5,777 demonstrators, 214 government-linked personnel, 86 youngsters and 49 non-protesting civilians. The Agency reported that the suppression has resulted in over 41,800 detentions.

Tehran claimed the death count was 3,117, stating 2,427 were ordinary citizens and security personnel. The remainder were branded as “terrorists” by the Islamic Republic.

Iran’s UN ambassador informed a UN Security Council session on Monday that Mr Trump’s ongoing military threats against the nation “are neither ambiguous nor misinterpreted”. Amir Saeid Iravani also reiterated accusations that the US president has encouraged violence by “armed terrorist groups” backed by America and Israel; he provided no proof for his assertions.

Iranian official media has attempted to blame foreign forces for the demonstrations as the religious regime remains largely powerless to tackle the nation’s struggling economy, still constrained by global sanctions, especially regarding its atomic programme. The demonstrations, which commenced on December 28, were ignited by a decline in Iran’s currency, the rial.

They rapidly expanded nationwide and faced a brutal response from Iran’s theocracy.
