Revolution bars group RevelCollective to shut 21 venues with 591 jobs misplaced – full record

Revolution bars group, RevelCollective which runs Revolution, Revolucion de Cuba and Peach Pubs venues across the UK, has announced that it is to close 21 venues across the UK

Revolution bars group, The Revel Collective, has announced plans to close 21 venues across the UK with a loss of 591 jobs. Yesterday, it revealed plans to bring in administrators but assured that discussions regarding a potential sale are “well advanced”.

The group, which also operates venues under the Revolucion de Cuba and Peach Pubs brands, filed a notice to appoint administrators “to protect creditors”.

However, it confirmed ongoing talks about a possible sale and anticipates making another announcement “in the coming days”. Yesterday, the company stated: “Since the transactions being contemplated are not expected to deliver any return to shareholders, the board has resolved to take action to protect creditors.

“Unless circumstances change, and in accordance with statutory requirements, the board intends to appoint administrators within 10 business days.

“The business will continue to trade and the company will continue to work alongside advisers in order to preserve as much value as possible for all stakeholders as it advances a potential sale of all or parts of the business,” the group added.

FTI Consulting have been brought in as administrators for the pub and bar operator which said it has struggled against rising costs and weaker consumer spending, particularly among its younger clientele.

The venues closing, with immediate effect, incorporate 14 Revolution bars, six Revolucion de Cuba bars and one Peach Pub.

However, FTI confirmed a pair of deals which will secure the future of 41 sites and 1,582 jobs.

The Revolution and Revolucion de Cuba brands and assets have been bought by Neos Hospitality Group, which runs the Barbara’s Bier Haus and Bonnie Rogues brands.

Meanwhile, the remaining Peach Pubs business has been bought by newly-formed group Coral Pub Company.
